Amal Clooney Doesn't Need a Stylist: She 'Chooses Everything Herself' Says Vintage Expert

06/06/2016 at 09:00 AM ET

Whether it’s psychedelic flares for a dinner date with George or statement white gloves on the red carpet, Amal Clooney is certainly not afraid to take risks when it comes to her wardrobe and she almost always seems to get it right. Cue a team of well-prepared stylists and assistants, right? Wrong.

The Lebanese-born lawyer does not have a stylist, preferring to shop for her eclectic looks herself. “Amal chooses everything herself whether the more formal, professional or playful pieces,” William Banks-Blaney, founder of WilliamVintage, one of Mrs. Clooney’s favorite vintage stores in London, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

A treasure trove of high-end vintage pieces dating from the 1920s through to the 1990s, every unique piece is sourced by Banks-Blaney himself for his Marylebone, London, boutique which opened in December 2010. The shop was once considered a ‘secret’ amongst those in the know, and is now loved by celebrities such as Rihanna, Kate Moss and Rachel Zoe.

While Clooney has been a customer of the boutique since 2015, it’s only recently that we have seen her publicly wearing so much vintage. Last month, she wore a green draped Madame Gres dress from 1945 to speak at the Google Zeitgeist event in the U.K and the following week she wore a cream Balenciaga coat dress from 1964 also from WilliamVintage teamed with retro black shades whilst in Rome.

And let’s not forget the black sequin Saint Laurent dress from 1981 that she wore on the red carpet in Berlin back in February. Another find from the vintage brand which launched in 2009, it was constructed from silk and covered in 10,000 black micro-sequins and featured a transparent skirt of black tulle — again personally picked by the fashionable Londoner. “Amal has impeccable taste and understands fashion perfectly, irrespective of whether the piece is from WilliamVintage or from the contemporary collections,” states Banks-Blaney.

And with a new e-commerce site having just launched last month, vintage fans can browse up to 1,000 unique pieces sourced from all over the globe at the click of their fingertips and the jet-settling lawyer can get her vintage fix on the move.

f…k she’s ugly.
Joke of a bogus marriage.
Ugly Amal.

I love her style and intelligence! Glad she is not another trophy wife looking for a payout after filing for divorce. Refreshing to see a lady with her own career, education and fashion sense!

She always nails it. She can fit all the clothes she chooses, and always looks classy and elegant. I love the way she dresses, and I wish I had that kind of figure, lol

L on

She is so elegant…. but very skinny

peggy on

She doesn’t need a stylist, but she should edit her choices with a photographer’s eye because she is with the most photographed man in the world and together they want to call attention to serious issues not herself.

Don’t get me wrong… She is beautiful and has great taste… However, having money helps your look tremendously. She can afford the best quality clothing, have everything custom tailored to her body, and can adorn herself with expensive accessories. If she shopped off the rack, like us… She’d look like us.

Very classy lady, and doesn’t appear to be a diva like the K Kows who require a stylist EVERY day and still look like trash.

“Amal has impeccable taste and understands fashion perfectly,”

I would take issue with this–she has hits and misses just like everyone. She also sets herself up for wardrobe malfunctions and views of private areas due to the fact that she wears most of her clothing TOO SHORT. The word is, from comments on other sites, that she very frequently has her clothing shortened. Not a good idea to wear something short if you are on stage or getting into/out of cars etc.

I also think the comment comes from someone who is not selling Amal the majority of her clothing–they all appear to be from current high end designers.

telling it like it is on

who can see past her ugly physical featured? She’s so distractingly hideously deformed ugly, that even the clothes that ugly Amal Alamuddin wears are too distasteful to look at
Inarticulate, overhyped, ugly non-entity who is promoted to celebrity reality star status by money-laundered Arab money.
George Clooney is getting paid to promote ugly Amal.

Okay on

She’s too much. Her style belongs to the ’80s. I’m thinking she needs to get a stylist because she’s all about excessive, conspicuous consumption. Who wears head-to-toe designer even just to catch a flight? I think she needs to tone it down and realise she’s not really a celebrity.
