Selena Gomez Went Super Casual for the 2016 Met Gala

Selena Gomez may officially be Taylor Swift‘s date for this evening, but even though they’re both attending in head-to-toe custom Louis Vuitton the co-chair for tonight’s Met Gala and her bestie went for very different style aesthetics. While Taylor was all about futuristic goth glam, Selena chose a very relaxed, pared-down look, matching her ankle-length gown with a pair of combat boots.

For the Super Bowl of fashion, Selena opted for a runway look from Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2016 collection that was specially adapted for the pop star with the addition of a whole lot of sequins all over the skirt and across the neckline which was given a tougher vibe thanks to a black leather bodice overlay. In terms of accessories, the singer kept things minimal and edgy with lace-up patent leather heeled boots, a boxy clutch, matching polka-dot bracelet and ring, and a pair of circle sunglasses.

Perhaps Selena chose this look because she didn’t want to upstage her BFF on her big night, but in any case, you can’t really blame Selena for wanting to be comfortable for a long night of dining, dancing and fine art appreciation.
