Adele Admits to Growing a Beard While Pregnant (She Even Has a Name for It!)

03/29/2016 at 10:46 AM ET

Being pregnant is, of course, a miracle and a blessing. But in addition to the astoundingly amazing experience of growing a human inside of you, pregnancy also comes with a weird array of side effects — weird cravings, strange skin reactions and accumulating hair in places you didn’t think hair grew. Adele knows all about the latter, as she announced to thousands of fans at a Glasgow concert.

“When I got pregnant, I had so much testosterone in me that I grew a beard,” she said, according to The Mirror. “I only cropped it last night. It’s actually true. I’m not telling a joke. I actually have a beard, but I’m proud of it. I call it Larry.”

She has son Angelo to thank for the facial hair, which also helps her relate to boyfriend Simon Konecki on a follicular level.

“My man’s got a good beard,” she said. “He trims it sometimes in the summer. I do have a beard myself, so I can understand when it gets hot in the summer.”

We look forward to the tearjerking ballad about a gal parting with her beloved facial hair, soon to come on her next album 27.

She is the best. I would to have her as a friend. Lol

Women do NOT develop beards when they are pregnant. MORBIDLY OBESE women get facial hair because being obese increases testosterone in your body. Adele was OBESE! My friend was obese too, grew a mustache, irregular periods, gall bladder disease, high blood pressure, knee problems, feet problems, knocked knees, and more. Forget that you look bad. Being fat/obese is super unhealthy, especially when pregnant, when you are at big risk for diabetes and miscarriage.

She is so funny! I hope I don’t grow a beard though! I am in my second trimester (we found out thru those free ttckit tests) and last time I checked I did not have one! LOL

Unfortunately, unusual things can happen to your body when your pregnant–my thing was the fallen arches. Yep, during/after my pregnanacy technically I grew to a larger foot size–I wish people could have warned me of this–I could have saved a lot of money on shoes.

Sorry to burst your bubble, “mi” but lots of women grow excess facial hair when they’re pregnant, not just obese people. Woman can grow excess hair on their faces, arms, stomachs, etc, when they’re pregnant due to pregnancy hormones. It has nothing to do with your weight. It happened to me with all 3 of my pregnancies (and I’m not the least bit overweight).

“mi” is incredibly ignorant on all levels.

mi, you are a sad person in so many ways I don’t even know where to start. Get some help please and leave women alone.
