Kim Kardashian's Glowing Skin Trick Is So Major, It's Been Kept a Secret for 20 Years

03/25/2016 at 03:37 PM ET

It may look like Kim Kardashian West‘s coveted glistening cheekbones and sultry smoky eyes could only be created with a serious knack for Photoshop — but the truth is, she has the best makeup artists in the business on speed dial, and they’re even better than computer wizardry. The most legendary on her roster? Pat McGrath, who is combining her artistry (and new makeup line) with Kim’s love of contouring to demonstrate just how Kim gets that covetable glow.

In a new video on Kimkardashianwest.com, McGrath demonstrates her much-anticipated third product, Skin Fetish 003, across Kardashian’s skin, giving the star the kind of glow even the most avid strobing fans only dream of. The secret? It’s one that McGrath has kept to herself for more than 20 years … until now, as she prepares to put her highlighting kit on sale April 26.

“It’s one of those top secrets that I’ve never shared with anyone,” McGrath tells PeopleStyle of the product, adding that it’s the “real backstage secret that everyone used to come up to me and go ‘What’s that?’ and I’d be like ‘[evil laugh].'”

In the video, McGrath creates two looks on Kardashian: one sultry and one a bit more natural, both of which have a radiantly dewy finish. Kardashian expresses her excitement about working with McGrath, saying, “She’s teaching me all the tricks that she’s been doing at the fashion shows for years.” And the feeling is mutual: McGrath dubs Kim “the No.1 McGrath Muse.”

The kits, which contain a dual-ended highlighter/gloss stick, a powder-gel dome of iridescent pigment and a brush, go on sale next month and will later be available at Sephora.

“We all know about highlighting, but how to do highlighting in the real way where your skin glows and your skin looks alive and real, that’s what this product’s about,” McGrath says.

I wish these products were actually available for regular every day people. I can’t afford $72.00 for a single make up product. I’m sure I can create my own as regular everyday people do.
