WATCH AND SHOP: The Makeup Sponge That's Missing from Your Beauty Bag

02/22/2016 at 06:00 AM ET

You may have used a makeup sponge before and it may have claimed to offer perfectly airbrushed looks, but if you haven’t been using the Beauty Blender you haven’t been getting the best results possible. Find out what makes this product so innovative (and check out the limited-time gift-with-purchase) in the video below.

The way the Beauty Blender achieves its flawless finish is thanks to the super-soft sponge. It creates a stippling effect when you apply makeup that leaves an incredible airbrushed look. Really, you’d swear you came straight from a professional makeup artist.

But the real trick is to soak the sponge in water first. By absorbing water, the makeup will sit right on top of the sponge, offering the best results and saving you a ton of money in the end.

And because we know a lot of you may keep makeup tools for longer than they’re meant to be used (don’t worry, we’re guilty too!), for a limited-time we’re throwing in the liquid cleanser with every Beauty Blender purchase.

this sponge starts smelling nasty after a few weeks … wouldn’t buy it again.

Nothing compares to the discontinued Max Factor #117 sponge.

Real techniques sponge from ulta. $6.99 and it works better than the beauty blender. Use regular soap to clean and replace every 3 – 6 months depending how often you use it. Beauty blenders are over rated.

I’ve tried two of of these sponge one for the foundation removal which is this one mentions and another inexpensive one for on the go. I think the brand was profusion. I like them both.
