7 Things to Know About the Newly-Winged Victoria's Secret Angel Josephine Skriver
Danish model Josephine Skriver officially has her wings. She’s been inducted into the Victoria’s Secret Angel Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge and Behati Prinsloo as a full-fledged Angel.
“Josephine Skriver is a stunning young woman and a delightful person,” Ed Razek, Chief Marketing Officer, Victoria’s Secret, said in a statement. “She is so special and we are enormously happy to welcome her to the most exclusive club in the history of modeling, The Victoria’s Secret Angels.”
Skriver couldn’t contain her excitement on Instagram, writing: “I’m literally living my dream right now! Can’t believe I get to share with you today that I’m #NewestAngel for @victoriassecret thanks to everyone that has helped to get me here! So humble and proud to be apart of such an amazing legacy!! THAAAAANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to everyone who believed in me!!”
#AngelJo didn’t stop there, adding, “I don’t even know how to be in my own body! It still feels so insane the day is finally here!”
Now that she’s in the “most exclusive club in history,” here’s what else you need to know about her.
1. She’s in Kendall’s Squad
Gigi, Kendall, Hailey, Cara and Jo, duh. She also made sure to support Kendall and Kylie at the launch of their new clothing collection in N.Y.C.
2. And Selena Gomez’s too …
Her clique is legit.
3. Her Boyfriend Is a Rock Star
Schriver dates Alexander Deleon, lead singer of the punk rock band The Cab. They’ve also modeled together, fronting a campaign for DL1961 denim last year. And he was so proud of his longtime love, that he gushed about her Angel status on Twitter in one of the most romantic threads we’ve ever read.
4. She’s Walked in Three Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and Landed the Cover of VS Swim’s Catalogue this year
She earned those wings!
5. She Grew Up with Gay Parents
Skriver’s mother is a lesbian and her father is gay. She’s been very open about her childhood and is a proud “IVF” kid, she told i-D magazine last year.
“It has taught me to look at the world and every new thing with open eyes and an open mind,” she shared in the i-D interview. “None of us are the same… We are all born in different cultures with different personalities, and we all have a right to just be who we are! It has without a doubt opened my heart and taught me that love does not judge, love does not discriminate, and love does not hate.”
6. She’s an ambassador for the Family Equality Council’s Outspoken Generation Program
“I hope I can help raise awareness about how amazing and loving parents members of the LGBTQ community can be,” she told i-D. “Who they love does not make them any less capable of raising great human beings. The more people realize that my own upbringing and that of others were healthy, positive ones, the more they will come to understand that the love in an LGBTQ household is no different.”
7. She Has a Younger Brother Named Oliver, and He’s Super Stylish Too
They share the same parents, and should win an award for most adorable sibling duo.
