Oprah's Hand-me-Downs Can Be Yours If You've Got a Dollar and Are Feeling Lucky

02/17/2016 at 09:00 AM ET

Oprah Winfrey has been stocking her closet(s) with designer duds for years, but now, she’s sharing the wealth (so to speak), and giving you the opportunity to shop all of her covetable, high-fashion items for as low as 99 cents. (Seriously!)

In lieu of gifting her gently worn designer duds to friends via an old-fashioned clothing swap, the TV personality has partnered with eBay to clean out her closet (her first major purge since 2010!), with all proceeds from her auction going to benefit a charity very close to her heart. (You can get a close-up look at the loot in the first photo, where Winfrey gave The Coveteur a sneak peek look into her closet!)

“Most of these items are timeless and classic pieces,” says the creative director of O, the Oprah Magazine Adam Glassman, who assisted with her cleanout. “They have appeared on the covers of the magazine or episodes of her show, which make them so special.”

He adds that bidding on these items not only gives you a chance to own a piece of Winfrey’s closet, but is also a great way to give back: “It’s the chance to buy a piece of television history and help change young women’s lives, since all the proceeds from the sale are going to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. And the best part is they’re all gently worn and like new. How can you beat that?” (Short answer? You can’t, especially because bidding for all items starts at 99 cents.)

Those looking to score in the sale will find more than 200 items from the star’s closet, including designer items by Badgley Mischka and Chanel (the dress and jacket, above), plus 20 pairs of stylish shoes and fun accessories, including Dolce & Gabbana shoes and handbags by Dior and Valentino.

Winfrey had Glassman to talk her through her donation process, though he says she’s not too bad about holding onto things she doesn’t need (“Gayle’s closet on the other hand, I’d love to get my hands on — and she knows that,” he spills. “Funny story, there’s a yellow-and-black ‘bumble bee’ dress that both Oprah and I agreed had to go during her last closet clean out … and I’ll let you guess whose closet it’s in now!”). But for those without a magazine creative director, eBay’s head of consumer selling, Vincent Payen, recommends eBay Valet, “our professional selling service where everything is done for you,” he tells People.

she’s a person, not a god, and people need to stop worshiping her, and she needs to stop letting people worship her.

Well, I know I won’t be able to get my hands on one of her purses even if I bet on it. I am very glad that she is doing this for a good cause. Why I don’t think I will get it? It a fact, I won’t compete with people with a lot of money to get her purses. I do admire her a lot but let someone else who has the $$ to enjoy her stuff and help others in the process. You go Oprah, making a difference in this world is what life is about :)
