Olivia Culpo Shows Us How a Street Style Star Packs for New York Fashion Week
Winter Fashion Week in New York City is a tough nut to crack dress code-wise. While the impulse is to show up sans coat in all your finest FROW peacocking frippery, that’s something the actual weather almost never allows for, saving up all of the season’s snow for the exact moment you desperately need to be photographed wearing the least amount of clothing possible. It’s enough to dampen even the most seasoned style editor’s spirits, and yet former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and her stylist Jennifer Mazur managed to make the whole affair look beyond effortless.

In a single day of shows, this pageant girl knocked out four super-stylish looks, catering her outfit to each of the big shows she attended. Culpo kicked off Valentine’s Day at Public School in an appropriately menswear inspired suiting look, complete with a pageboy cap and a coat from Reiss. But at Rachel Zoe, she completely transformed, ditching the headwear for some tight french braids and another monochromatic suit look, this time in all white, accented with a brown belt, and bright red lip. At Jonathan Simkhai, Olivia let her inner California surfer girl shine through in a beachy off-the-shoulder top and the same wide-legged white trousers from earlier, before finishing off Sunday in her most complicated look to date at Prabal Gurung, an open weave white sweater, sheer-paneled skirt, and brown, thigh-high suede boots.
If you’re still baffled as to how one woman could so easily pack enough head-to-toe high fashion ensembles to wear four looks a day for an entire week of getting photographed at shows, you’re in luck. People’s Style and Beauty Director, Andrea Lavinthal, spent the entire Sunday of NYFW with Culpo learning all her behind-the-scenes secrets to crafting the perfect carry-on, creating outfits guaranteed to get you street-style snapped, and how to stay warm in the midst of a blizzard when you only packed one coat. Now if only we could all have our racks of couture styled for us over FaceTime.
And stay tuned for more to come from our NYFW video series with Olivia Culpo!
