Gwyneth Paltrow Is at Peace with Aging: 'I Feel More Beautiful Now Than I Did 20 Years Ago'

If there’s one five-letter word that probably sends stars running for the Hollywood Hills, it’s: aging. But not only is Gwyneth Paltrow brushing the notion of getting older off her shoulders, she’s happy to leave her youth behind.

“GwynethSteve Granitz/WireImage

“I was a mess in my 20s! I would never want to go back,” the actress, 43, tells PeopleStyle. “I’m so thankful to be where I am.”

Calling her 40s “incredible,” Paltrow adds she would have loved it if her friends had informed her the best was yet to come. “I wish more women had told me that at 40 you sort of stop worrying about what other people think about you, and you come into yourself in the most phenomenal way. I think the 40s are such a gift, and I feel more beautiful now than I did 10 years ago or 20 years ago.”

The mother of two’s positive outlook is probably the result of feeling comfortable in her own skin. “I think even though physically I don’t look like I did when I was 25, I feel beautiful because I feel like myself.” And having great skin helps, too. The star, whose goop Skincare line launches on goop.com March 1. says the combination of her Exfoliating Instant Facial and Replenishing Night Cream makes her “wake up feeling like my skin is alright!”

While her hair is a larger struggle (she has bad hair days “all the time”), Paltrow is OK with her “crazy” mane and even uses one of friend Beyoncé’s famous phrases as her hair mantra. “My hair is like three different textures. I usually just leave it, and I’m like, ‘Whatever. I woke up like this. I don’t know what to tell you.'”

Get back to us in 20 years when you’ve really aged.

I love being in my 40’s!
I think the less you care about appeasing others, the more unique and beautiful you look.

What is she talking about? She wears her hair the exact same way all the time..

Umm…being in your 40’s is not aging. If you think it is, I have news for you – you may only be halfway there. Seriously – bragging about how you’re coping with aging at this stage?? And to think these kids are trying to run the world – soooooo out of touch with reality.

Dead ringer for your beautiful and classy mom!

Every decade has something great to offer, if you are healthy…
When she hits 50, I’ll be interested in what she has to say about
aging. I never thought about age and loved turning 40… I will
say 40 is better than 50❗️ I didn’t freak out, but there was a bit
of oh I’m getting older lol

I think Gwenyth is gorgeous. I’ve never understood all of the negativity thrown her way. Yes, she can come across as a little elitist, but she’s a good actress, by all accounts a good mother, and never seems to get caught in precarious situations, like most of Hollywood.

I like very very much being in my 40s…. Things getting better & better….. Paltrow is beautiful on that pic…. Maybe very slim but still she is charming indeed !

I’ve never read so much about a celebrity that constantly talks about nothing….. accept for Jennifer Aniston but she’s actually cute and has some talent.

She’s like the rest of the Hollywood Mom’s bored at home with the kids–=not into the normal playdate thing–so she’s thinking about getting back into the biz…so the Hollywood Moms end up having other people raise their kids…not impressed. and no the 40’s are not the end of your life..even though maybe to some in Hollywood it is.
