Cindy Crawford on Retiring from Modeling: 'I'm Not Making Any Final Statements'

Is Cindy Crawford officially saying goodbye to the modeling world?

The legendary supermodel, who will turn 50 on Feb. 20, told United Airlines’ Rhapsody magazine that she plans to retire once she hits her fifth decade.

“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore,” Crawford says in the magazine’s February issue. “And that’s okay. I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers.”

“What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself,” she added. “I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”

Crawford has since clarified her statement, turning to Instagram to explain that if the right opportunities came along, nothing is really off limits.

“Every year, I tell my kids I’m retiring. It’s a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me,” she shared. “While it’s true that I’m eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family — I’m not making any final statements (not all headlines tell the whole story!). I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years — and if that time has taught me anything, it’s this: never say never. Thanks for all the support, I’m so excited for what 2016 holds! xo Cindy

Crawford certainly can retire knowing she’s had a full career — and life. Aside from being one of the iconic supermodels of the ’90s, the 5-foot-9-inch beauty is also mother to two children — Kaia Jordan Gerber and Presley Walker Gerber, both models-on-the-rise in their own right — and is married to Rande Gerber.

And her recent Balmain campaign alongside fellow ’90s supers Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer proves she’s definitely still got it.

I see mistakes in the writing here all the time. It’s hard to get beyond a “journalist”, as well Asa supposed editor, who confuses centuries and decades. PEOPLE, your writing is in a sad state. Pull it together.
