Jaden Smith Is the New Face of Louis Vuitton (Womenswear!): 'Wearing a Skirt Comes Naturally to Him'

Leave it to Jaden Smith to break fashion boundaries.

On Saturday, Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere took to his Instagram to reveal his latest ad campaign for the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2016 women’s collections — which are fronted by none other than Will Smith and wife Jada‘s son.

“Why does Jaden Smith star in this campaign?” Ghesquiere asks in the press release. “He represents a generation that has assimilated the codes of true freedom, one that is free of manifestos and questions about gender. Wearing a skirt comes as naturally to him as it would to a woman who, long ago, granted herself permission to wear a man’s trench or a tuxedo. Jaden Smith conveys something very interesting about the integration of a global wardrobe. He’s found an instinctive balance that makes his extraordinary attitude a new norm. That really inspired me in the creative process for this collection.”

In recent years, the 17-year-old has been known to push the envelope when it comes to style choices, having been photographed wearing skirts, a dress to prom and — most notably — a Batman costume to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s wedding.

So, it’s no secret the designer chose Smith (who is seen sporting womenswear in the label’s ad below) to become the face of Louis Vuitton. He has already proven to be sartorially flexible and has previously spoken about his penchant for high fashion.

“I’m just expressing how I feel inside, which is really no particular way because everyday it changes how I feel about the world and myself,” he told GQ in June of his sometimes out-there outfit choices.

Spoken like a true style star.

Why? He’s not at all good-looking.

They want you to buy a bag for $2500 and this is how they think they will convince you?
I am an adult who works hard and dont want to be associated with a 17 yr old when I go out with my designer bag.
Pathetic.
I absolutely cannot stand these Hollywood kids who think they are worldly at 17 yrs old because they ride on their parents coattails.
Ridiculous

He’s not cute at all and ruined The Karate Kid. Nepotism at its finest. And for those of you who are crying ” racism” Jude Law’s son Rafferty is not much of a model either and I love Jude to death.

Congrats Jaden!

yikes on

saw that kid on a talk show, he was an arrogant ass. It appears he has nothing else going for him, academics or otherwise, which is why he parades around in expensive miss-matched clothing calling attention to himself. Louis sales will not be on the rise with this youngster as ‘the face’…. poor choice.

Nope. on
