Golden Globes 2015: George Clooney Wears His Wedding Tux

01/12/2015 at 12:20 AM ET

You already knew George Clooney had it made: Beautiful wife, jetsetting lifestyle, face that only improves with age. But here’s how you know he’s got it better than at least half of Hollywood: While every actress in L.A. was trying on (and dieting for) dozens of gowns, Clooney just reached into his closet for his Golden Globes outfit. And he pulled out his wedding tux.

The actor, who took home the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, told the press room he was recycling the look from his September nuptials, after praising his new bride on stage during his acceptance speech. “Amal, whatever alchemy brought us together, I couldn’t be prouder to be your husband,” he said. (See what she wore here!)

But really, can you blame him for wanting to give the suit another outing, considering it was a made-to-measure piece with his name specially stitched into the label, and created by Mr. Giorgio Armani himself? The suit is an ultra-fine wool/cashmere blend, and, like at his wedding, he paired it with a white shirt, black bow tie and oxfords in smooth, brushed black leather.

Clooney has long been a proponent of keeping things simple in the wardrobe department. “I have one tux. Just one,” Clooney told PEOPLE when he was named Sexiest Man Alive in 2006. “It’s a single-button [Armani]. There’s only one mistake guys can make, and that is to try to do anything fancy. Just put on a tux. Just put a tie on, put a plain shirt on, don’t wear a bolo tie, and don’t wear a cummerbund that’s crazy.”

A man in love is one of the sexiest things! Especially one who isn’t afraid to show it. I’d say Amal is a lucky women but seeing the positive impact she’s had on him, I’d say HE was the lucky one. She’s an intelligent, well spoken, confident women. Marrying her was the smartest decision he’s ever made. That includes some of his movie choices.

Hey Farrah is your real name Amal? Or maybe you are her cousin? Amal is not beautiful – her face is angular and horselike. As for George he’s an old man now. Other women had the best of him 20 years ago. She’s got the sloppy leftovers.

Hey Tracey, you sound like a very insecure woman that is eaten up by envy! Amal is stunning, educated and has more class than you will probably ever have. I reckon you live in a trailer and watched the show while you had rollers in your greasy hair.
It sucks right, to be sitting in your trailer while George and Amal were probably making love afterwards…lol

Wow, aren’t you just a ball of sunshine? Post YOUR picture so we can all see how stunning you are.

Wearing your wedding tux to accept the biggest award at the “Golden Globes” pretty tacky!

Suit does not seem to be tailored for him? Pants are too long and jacket looks ill fitting.

I thought George looked very handsome. I would recycle that tux any day, any time. Gorgeous fashion! As for Amal’s gloves, I thought they were extremely pretentious. Although beautiful, she looked uncomfortable and was noticeably quiet…perhaps the IQ level of the interviewers was just too low for her to even believe. The banter of the red carpet was especially vapid last night. Ditch the gloves Amal, it’s ok to come in contact with the general population!

George, you forgot to thank Pascal and Rudin, all while forgiving them for the “little mistakes.”

Come on, keep up the sycophant role. You “play” it well.

Can only imagine what they say about your wife, given the comments about POTUS.

Oh you are just ignorant on

@Red Skye what is tacky about it? It was widespread in the 20th century and is actually STILL customary in many cultures for a man to wear his suit or tux and a woman to wear her wedding dress to social events (requiring black or white tie) for the first YEAR after marriage. Maybe spend less time criticizing people and more time learning a little history?
