Alessandra Ambrósio Launches Swimwear Line: Get the Exclusive First Look!

Victoria’s Secret veteran Angel and Fantasy Bra wearer Alessandra Ambrósio is once again taking off her wings to work behind the scenes — as a designer! The model, who is no stranger to the creative role, has expanded her ále by Alessandra line with a swimwear collection, and we’ve got the exclusive scoop!

The swim collection, which can be best described as “comfortable, fun and chic,” according to the model, is made up of 75 different styles in both one-piece and two-piece separates, and includes coverups. And because the line was inspired by the model’s “Brazil-Bohemia-meets Malibu-Chic lifestyle,” the pieces are detailed with jeweled trims, vibrant colors and daring silhouettes.

The model’s Brazilian roots also played a key role in the line’s creation. “Being from Brazil I grew up spending a lot of time by the beach, so it was only natural that my collection [expanded] to swimwear,” she tells PEOPLE. “Brazilians are a bit more liberal with their swim choices, especially when it comes to cuts, so I incorporated both Brazilian and American cuts into this collection.”

And as someone who is used to wearing swimwear in front of the camera for hours on end, comfort was one of Ambrósio’s non-negotiables when it came to designing her collection. “It is very important to feel comfortable while wearing swimwear, and that is why I incorporated many different shapes and very comfortable fabrics into this collection,” she tells PEOPLE. “I went one step further by making sure that the pieces are very durable and will last for years.”

Ambrósio, who always looks amazing in a swimsuit (and we’re forever envious of it!), wants everyone to feel great in her pieces — so she recommends that you “find a swimsuit that works for your body shape. Sometimes that might include mixing and matching different pieces,” she says. But if you’re looking for a shortcut, she shared the most flattering styles from her own collection with PEOPLE. “There are a few pieces from Forever on Vacation, Palm Summer and Joshua Tree styles that are perfect for anyone.”

I love the fact that the pieces can be mixed and matched. Can’t wait to look them over for the warm weather break over Christmas and spring vacay! Love her style!!

“What do you think of the Alessandra’s swimwear line? Will you be buying one of everything, like us?” Answer: NO! Comfort? Look at that third pic. Long sleeve? So comfortable.
Boring swimwear line, boring model and we know she is not a designer.

Tara on

seriously how many smimwear lines do we need? just because she is a swimsuit model does not mean she can or should be a swimsuit designer. too bad all that time and effort can’t contribute to something more helpful.

Is the long-sleeved top for colder weather?!

Wow. I don’t understand how there’s so much hate. You buy a suit in November if you are going on vacation. It’s called resort…anyway. Congrats to her.

Her body is nice but her face? Its really not that special at all….I don’t get how she’s a model. She’s not ugly just not really captivating at all so I never got how she was a model…. Just weird…

Like we need another swimwear line?? How many different “styles” can we possibly have to choose from? And she calls her styles, “comfortable?” I have yet to see a woman wear a long sleeve crop top on the beach with a bikini bottom! Talk about horrible tan lines and uncomfortable heat with something like that on in the sun! Just because they look good on her body in these airbrushed pictures doesn’t mean they’re flattering to the average woman nor affordable to her either.

I’m sorry, although she has a fantastic body — she looks like a donkey.

Jake on

I don’t know how this woman ever became a model. She looks nothing like her Photoshopped pictures in real life.
