Katie Holmes Is the New Face of Olay! See Her First Photoshoot

09/24/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

It’s been more than 10 years since Katie Holmes first played a fresh-faced teen on Dawson’s Creek, but her skin hasn’t aged a day. Which is why we weren’t surprised to hear that she’s been tapped by Olay to be the brand’s newest spokeswoman. The actress shared a look at her photoshoot for the skincare line, as well as answered some of our pressing questions about her beauty routine and the craziest thing in her medicine cabinet.

First and foremost, Toledo, Ohio native loves Olay because “it’s an Ohio company, so it feels like home to be working with them,” she tells PEOPLE. “They really mean something to women. I remember buying Olay in high school because I wanted to look pretty.”

These days she strives to “feel beautiful on the inside and outside,” which she achieves with exercise, water and the brand’s Regenerist cream cleanser — though not every night, as she admits that going to sleep without washing her face is her one skincare weakness.

And while she says she never has done a wacky skincare treatment in her life, if you opened her medicine cabinet you might be surprised to find “a lot of Ricola cough drops for theater and they’re kind of old. They’re kind of like candy!” (Don’t say that too loudly around Suri!)

The star got glam for her ad with Serge Normant and his team, which you can see in the behind-the-scenes photo above. And while we had a feeling that a girl who answered “yum, more please” to the question “Baked, mashed or fried?” might be pretty fun to hang out with on set, the photos of her goofing off seem to confirm that.

Are you excited for this new partnership? Loving the photos?

From Bobbi Brown to Olay? Supposedly when she was with Bobbi Brown it was going to be a real partnership and not just a celebrity endorsement. Then she was replaced by Kate Upton so quickly. There is some overlap in the product offerings, so this just seems like a rather quick transition.

I don’t get why this woman gets any work, acting or otherwise. She’s annoying, not talented & not deserving of this new role. Ho hum!!!

please no on

She is certainly very annoying. The Holmes & Yang thing ended. The Bobbi Brown thing ended. I do think she is a bit young for Olay. I think it destroys what Olay means to women in their 40’s and beyond; not that using Olay in your 30’s is a bad idea. She is an underhanded person trying suddenly to profit on her Ohio midwestern values and Catholicism. She knew Tom was a scientologist and in the Catholic church you don’t married a twice divorced man with no annulments. She is a crockery at best. And she plays a dreary version of herself in all roles. She was fake in Jack and Jill, not comedic at all, and she caused her Broadway play to cancel due to her boring qualities.

Love it how they show the Tom Cruise-era photo with that haircut. I actually liked that haircut, but looking at the photo now, I looked at her with a woman with no soul. If she had such values then, she would have recognized Tom’s reputation and Nicole’s hurt. She will never fit into any cool girl club. It is OK that she did that, but not OK to pretend she is Ms. Skin Care Innocent. No honey, you aren’t. No committed two sins according to your newfound-again religion when you married Tom.

Marrying Tom Cruise has paid off in spades.

Right. She uses $8 face cream from the drug store.

Surprised she gets these jobs since I don’t think she is aging very well at all. But then again, who the heck uses Olay anymore??? Random.

I am going to sound like a real brat here, but when I used to read all of the time how she made cupcakes, something seemed off in my reaction. I figured it out. It is as if she likes to play into this “I am innocent” side… and we are then supposed to be wowed by the combo of cupcakes and then her sudden photos with dark makeup with a blow dryer. Like “I can bring home the bacon”. It is an irritating and in insult to the piles of real women who ALREADY do this, are sexy, and don’t get these odd accolades.

she mentioned the cough drops, but didn’t her play fail due to lack of success?? sometimes these articles say all kinds of things, but at the end of the day, her success record isn’t that great?

Her skin should look good. She didn’t suffer through an economic crisis and she is in her 30’s. How maddening. How bizarre.
