George and Giorgio are continuing their well-tailored friendship.

Speaking after his Emporio Armani show at Milan Fashion Week on Thursday, designer Giorgio Armani confirmed he’s dressing George Clooney for his upcoming nuptials in Venice. “George has chosen and been fitted for an Armani suit for his wedding,” the Italian fashion design icon said, according to local TV reports. (In Italian, the word he used could refer to a tuxedo or a traditional suit.)

The partnership is no big surprise: This summer, a design team from Armani was spotted visiting Clooney at his home on Italy’s Lake Como. And Armani tuxes have long been the star’s go-to for red carpets, from the Golden Globes to the Oscars.

“I have one tux. Just one,” Clooney told PEOPLE when he was named Sexiest Man Alive in 2006. “It’s a single-button [Armani]. There’s only one mistake guys can make, and that is to try to do anything fancy. Just put on a tux. Just put a tie on, put a plain shirt on, don’t wear a bolo tie, and don’t wear a cummerbund that’s crazy.”

Works for us. And clearly it works for his bride-to-be, Amal Alamuddin. She hasn’t yet confirmed which designer she’ll be wearing on their big day, but we can be sure that between the two of them, the style factor is going to be through the roof.

George. YUM

George’s behaviour and attention seeking for this engagement and wedding is really out of character and an obvious PR stunt akin to Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch. He hardly knows this woman – anyone can see it is a PR move. And old George is going to increasingly bizarre lengths to try and convince the world that he really is into her – his latest public declaration that he can’t wait to get married and be her husband are his latest attempt to persuade a skeptical public. This after he has spent the last 16 years denigrating and slamming marriage in the media. His sudden desperation to get married is like a religious conversion. It smacks of needing an image makeover to prolong his career or enter politics. But I don’t think George would ever get elected in America even with this new wife. He’s not as popular as he thinks he is and that’s why he can’t get a large audience to pay to see his movies anymore. Put his name alone on the marquee and he can’t deliver an audience. The same would happen on Election Day.

Happy for him. But once you’ve seen one traditional tux, you’ve seen them all. I can’t wait to see Amal’s dress.

George Clooney makes me miss reading and seeing pictures of John F. Kennedy Jr. I don’t know why?
