Gisele Bündchen's Under Armour Campaign: The Supermodel Breaks a Sweat (and Shows That Hard Work Pays Off!)

09/04/2014 at 12:36 PM ET

Gisele Bündchen‘s definitely the most sought-after supermodel in the world (not to mention the highest-paid), but the Brazilian bombshell’s latest campaign is much different than all the high-fashion lines she fronts. Bündchen has been named one of Under Armour’s new “Will ambassadors.”

Following dancer Misty Copeland’s moving campaign, Bündchen is now the one standing up against her critics. In the new TV spots, the model is shown boxing as comments from her naysayers, as well as her supporters, flash behind her. “She’s nothing special at all,” one Tweet reads. Another, “Stick to modeling sweetie.” Catch the clip below.

“Most women at a certain point in their life encounter contradicting opinions, expectations, praise and criticism. Having lived her life in the public eye since she began modeling at 16, Gisele knows what it means to focus inward in order to beat the noise and achieve her own goals,” Leanne Fremar, Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director of Under Armour Women’s line, says in a statement. “Along with scaling to the heights of her profession as a model and a global fashion icon, she’s an incredibly athletic woman, dedicated to her practice of martial arts and yoga.”

And as seen in the photos and the video spot, Bündchen’s exercise routine pays off. (Not to mention, sweating is clearly a family affair for the Bündchen-Brady family; husband Tom Brady is also an Under Armour spokesmodel!)

I saw her on the Tonight Show last night . . .. gotta say . . she’s very ANNOYING. She may be a lovely person, but I don’t think she’s all that pretty. But obviously someone does! LOL.

UA is a Maryland based company. There are a lot of women in Maryland who could have filled this role. I am not an athlete or a supermodel, but I can kick box too….

I will never understand people who say she isn’t attractive. She’s a super model. Of course she’s attractive.
Go Gisele! And I love that she makes more than her hubby :-)

I saw Gisele on the Tonight Show as well and thought she was personable and funny. Marlene, you are totally missing the point of the UA campaign. This is not a commercial about kickboxing. Checkout the one with Misty Copeland…it is not about ballet. These commercials are about defying critics, staying strong and going after what you want no matter what all critics say about you. All the woman in this campaign are famous and have defied negativity to achieve what they have hence….I WILL WHAT I WANT.

Hate her! I’ll admit it…she’s gorgeous, famous and rich topped off with a handsome rich athletic husband and blessed with children. Hate her…LOL!!

Love UA gear, her – not so much. I think her beauty is based on masculine femininity (or vice versa lol) – she has a very manly face that a makeup artist can play with and do wonderful things. She may speak 5 languages but she needs to master one of them b/c her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Happy Friday!!

Sorry but I totally dislike all ads that make women look like men.

That CAN”T feel good on her foot-geez. I agree (below) I never saw her physical beauty, surprised she is a model – but then I guess she is the toothpick type model who they use to model the clothes, but not a face, photogenic type model.

To ‘LM’ (below) – what do you mean, ‘She’s a super model, of course she’s attractive’???? if someone said you had a purple elephant on your head, you would believe them? OMG!! Just cause someone made her a model, doesn’t mean they didn’t make a HUGE mistake – OMG!!! are you serious??? Do you always believe EVERYTHING someone tells you?

No only is she incredibly unlikable, the vast majority of consumers find her entirely unattractive. Wait…so she is a model that, like, does some kickboxing & yoga and that is somehow supposed to be impressive to me? Hooray. She’s a millionaire who is well overpaid for sulking at a camera. Ridiculous. Is she leaving behind her cushy modeling jobs to become join the ranks of a professional athlete? No? Then why is the %^&$ is she relevant to this campaign.
