Malin Akerman Shaves Her Head, Debuts Edgy Swept-Back Pixie at Emmys Afterparty

08/26/2014 at 10:08 AM ET

You already saw Kerry Washington’s ombré and Kate Mara’s asymmetrical cut, but there was one major hair change that didn’t hit the Emmys red carpet. Malin Akerman and her shaved head — that’s right, shaved head! — took the HBO afterparty by storm.

Akerman pulled a complete hair transformation, buzzing the sides of her head and cutting her long blonde locks into a short pixie-like style that reminds us of a hybrid between Miley Cyrus, Rosario Dawson and Demi Lovato‘s hairstyles. (Basically, the half-buzz is becoming the new bob.)

“Yup! #changeisgood #Emmys2014,” she captioned the below photo on Twitter.

Akerman’s had long and shoulder-length hair before, but this is definitely the shortest she’s ever gone. We wonder what other stars will follow suit with a bold cut! What do you think of the star’s shaved pompadour style? Are you a fan? Share your thoughts below.

Hope it’s for a movie or tv role as that’s not an attractive look….

Love it – she looks awesome!

Bomx55 on

I love her new style, it’s edgy, cute and shows NO FEAR which is the only thing that holds you back in life. Go Malin! I predict she will go far!

Margarita on

Nope. Don’t like it.

MomC on

I will miss her show. That was shaping up to be a very good ensemble comedy.

What I wouldn’t give to do this in the middle of a hot summer. Wouldn’t look as good on me though.

Heather on

I’m not liking this trend.

Susan on

This looks great on her, and probably on about 1/8th of the female population, if that.

Ann on

This is not shaving your head. She trimmed the sides and that’s
it. Truth in reporting PEOPLE, truth in reporting. With the hair
on top, she can comb it down and cover the sides of her head.

Steacy on

She can pull it off but the cut itself looks pretty shotty.

that is pretty severe and she is such a pretty lady.
It will grow out!

charlotte on

I actually like it a lot better than what she had.

Sammi on

I love it, she looks gorgeous

This style barely looks good on Pink, who isn’t expected to look anything but over the top. On others, it looks ridiculous, and like a teenager who is thinking of burning their own house down. Haven’t seen anyone I thought it looked great on. Most of these people who bleach their hair into insensibility would do well to pretty much leave the color alone, and try not to go for a look that makes you so grateful that hair grows as quickly as it does! LOL

Kimber on

I love it actually, but that’s not a shaved head.

Ewww!!! Horrendous!!!

Is it too difficult for these celebs to do something unique and stop copying other celebs? this haircut is horrendous.

glam girl on

Wow! Gorgeous.

Love fearless and bold women who knock the norms. Short haired girls rock my world! Shaved, buzzed, pixies, it’s all good to me. What’s pathetic is the lady who says, “I could never pull this off” Just love societies double standard for women, you NEVER once heard a stylist say HIS face shape isn’t right for short hair, do you?
