Three Ways to Wear a Basic Button-Down, From Classic to Wacky

We can always count on celebrities to introduce new styling tricks for wardrobe staples. Crisp button-downs have been everywhere lately, and if you’re tired of donning yours the same way every time (ie: with a basic blazer and jeans or tucked into a pencil skirt), these three stars might be the inspiration you’re looking for.

First, Chrissy Teigen was snapped walking her dog in a very professional-looking outfit. She tucked her button-down (featuring an exaggerated collar and wide sleeves) into a pair of high-waisted cropped pants and finished the look with black pumps, for a totally chic, office-appropriate look.

Moving on to a less safe-for-work look, Olivia Munn turned her Rails sailboat-print shirt into a crop top, tying up the ends and pairing it with a high-waisted knife-pleat midi skirt. And on the most unique (and possibly polarizing) end of the button-down spectrum, Olivia Palermo experimented with a polka-dot top, leaving it completely unbuttoned and tucking each side skillfully into her checked shorts over a striped tank. And we’re not sure how she managed to keep it that way.
