Her engagement to George Clooney in April certainly put Amal Alamuddin on the paparazzi’s radar, and she’s responded by stepping out in one statement-making outfit after another. It’s hard to define her fashion sense; one minute she’s in lawyer mode and hits the streets in a sensible modern suit. The next, she’s celebrating her engagement in a neon tee with a crystal skull on the front. One thing is for sure: Alamuddin doesn’t step out without a statement piece (or two).

On Monday, she headed to work in tailored slacks and a white pullover blouse under a light spring trench. She chose a structured, ladylike and work-appropriate bag to go with the look. But to keep the look from being tooDuchess of Cambridge,” she jazzed the look up with a neon necklace.

Perhaps her most buzzed-about accessories thus far have been her pink and purple mismatched heels that she paired with a pink mini-dress. Did she buy two pairs and then swap out one shoe to throw us all off? More likely they’re a vintage find. But when she picks funky shoes, she keeps the rest of her look basic and doesn’t over-accessorize.

Last week she was spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport in post-flight comfort attire: boyfriend jeans, a loose tee and an oversized cardigan, plus practical walking shoes (ok, they’re Prada). She added a pop of color via her blue-rimmed aviator Ray Bans.

In March, she rocked bold brogues that played off her printed pants, and smartly kept the rest of her look basic with a modern asymmetrical moto jacket and black shades, fishing the look with her standard big purse. And this past fall she chose a pink Balenciaga jacket to go over an entirely black ensemble. The average girl might have been content to leave that as her statement piece, but Alamuddin added a little flare to the monochromatic outfit with booties with a cheeky heel cutout.

So what do you think of Alamuddin’s quirky style? Do you love that she’s a little funkier than your average lawyer?

I love you commented on Amal’s mismatched shoes: they are called “Asimmetriche” and were designed in the late 90’s by Giuliano Figini. You can still find them at Figini stores in Milan ( Thanks so much!!!

She looks like a man in drag or a tranny. Period. End of Story. Pretty? No. Cute? Hardly. Striking? Of course – TALL, gangly, strong featured, long mannish torso……I have seen her.Contract arrangement? You tell me.
