Peplumania continues! Kate was credited with helping peplum — a detail that accentuates waist and creates the illusion of fuller hips — make a comeback in 2012, and she proved the look is still trending during her latest outing in Australia.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a flounce hem top and matching box pleated skirt from Alexander McQueen when she visited the Adelaide suburb of Elizabeth on Wednesday. Though it could hardly be considered revealing, the V-neckline was a daring departure for Kate, who usually prefers to stay covered up to her clavicles. In 2012, she wore a McQueen peplum frock (right) that had been customized with sleeves and a boatneck collar. (Kim Kardashian wore the original version a year earlier.)

For the most recent outing, Kate paired her outfit with her signature L.K. Bennett “Sledge” pumps, marking the fourth occasion on the Royal Tour she’s worn heels from the British label that she helped make famous.

The Duchess has also carried the brand’s “Natalie” clutch three times so far on the tour and last week, she prompted a fashion face-off with Mindy Kaling when she wore L.K. Bennett’s poppy-print “Lasa” dress, which, not surprisingly, is now sold out.

For her latest Australian appearance, Kate wore her hair in a half undo, a more simple ponytail style than the elaborate half twist that recently had “Copy Kates” buzzing.

What do you think of Kate’s double-take outfit? Are you ready for some new shoes?

Cute as can be! Acts like she is having a wonderful time. What an adorable family. William and Kate seems to like each other as well as love each other. Kate should wear what she is comfortable in. Have you ever walked or stood in shoes that are NOT comfortable? LOL She always has to be “on” -people are just waiting for her make a mistake (heaven forbid she act human like the rest of us)

She looks great all the time, hollyweird could learn a lot from watching what she wears. Stylish and classy.

This new outfit doesn’t fit her. She’s drowning in it.

Plunging neeckline for a Royal? Wow, that’s new!

@IMO- She is NOT drowning in it! It fits her perfectly. You are simply used to seeing fashion being worn by celebrities rather than actual, real females. Celebrities tend to squeeze themselves into clothing so that every curve is hugged and cleavage is bursting out! Her outfit fits just fine, thank you.

@Kat- No, it’s not new. Not at all. From The Princess of Wales, the Duchess of York, Princess Micheal of Kent, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, The Countess of Wessex, Princess Anne, Zara Phillips, etc. …not to even mention going back to the 50’s to the Queen herself and Princess Margaret, Princess Grace of Monaco and the Monegasques since (Charlotte, etc.)…it is nothing new at all! Why even the Queen Mum…

She looks like Diana in her first years in marriage, sometimes dressed like a sailor in a Halloween party. This young lady needs an update urgent for her summer what evers, the queen
is not noticing if she’s dressed or not!!! Could be the cold weather of England the cause of her vestimentaire style.

she is just outstanding!!

No, this isn’t her favorite outfit. I would have to say it is that striped white and navy shirt with her dark blue skinnies, and wedges – usually topped off with some sort of blazer. She’s worn it at least twice on this tour.

That is the way clothes are suppose to be worn not a couple of sizes too small like stuffing a 10 pound sausage in a 5 pound casing. Catherine is very classy!
