No sweats and sneakers for this international traveler! The Duchess of Cambridge spent part of the three-hour flight from Wellington to Sydney changing from a chic blue suit into a sunny yellow dress to kick off the Australian leg of the Royal Tour.

The Duchess started her day in a “Sparkle Tweed” jacket and matching skirt by New Zealand-born designer Rebecca Taylor (which she paired with black Alexander McQueen pumps) for a visit to the Royal New Zealand Police College. Fashion followers will remember that Kate first wore the ensemble to a reception for the Scott-Amundsen Centenary Race in April 2012.

For her final appearance in New Zealand, hairstylist Amanda Cook Tucker — who is a member of the Royal Tour entourage — swept Kate’s locks back into a half-up do. The Duchess, who normally prefers to wear her hair down, has worn the pulled-back style often over the past week, perhaps because of the rainy weather.

The skies were clear when the Royal trio deplaned in Sydney later in the day. Carrying Prince George, Kate arrived wearing a yellow-and-white color-block Roksanda Ilincic dress. Though the designer has no ties to Australia, yellow is one of the country’s national colors.

The contemporary dress signaled a bit of a departure from the Duchess’s usually classic sartorial aesthetic, but Kate paired it with her trusty nude LK Bennett heels and a clutch by the brand. And despite the wardrobe change, Kate stuck with her half up-do, which has us wondering: Is the Duchess transitioning to new go-to hairstyle? What do you think of her first Australia look? She is lovely no matter what she does.

She has such a pretty face… pull that mane back into a bun!

Good to see that she is not ashamed to show her age more, which is refreshing in contrast with the Jordanian royal women. I don’t see evidence of Botox at present as she clearly has movement in her forehead.

Dee on

She has nice hair, so it looks good no matter what. Love the yellow on her.

She’s just classic. I LOVE this yellow dress! She always looks amazing.

Pat on

I prefer her hair loose. However, I remember the days with a toddler of George’s age. Mine kept pulling my hair!

Marcy on

She looks lovely no matter what she wears or how her hair is. She is a class act.

Tess on

Love her, always a class act!

She is lovely any way she wears her hair. She is always such a classy lady no matter what she wears. She is just stunning. Do not know her personally but I know I would love her. Dianna would be so proud!

Beautiful girl with style, class and the worst 80’s hair ever.

The yellow dress is stunning!

Dreadful. She is so overrated. She is a skinny plain-faced woman who wears boring, bordering on outright ugly clothes. Both of these outfits are horrendous.

So pretty on

— Not a fan of the white based yellow on her. She looks so good in blue or red based colors (minus white blues, she always looks good in almost every blue she’s ever worn). I think a blue yellow like mustard or curry would look better on her.

— First, whoever said she had 80’s hair must not remember or know much about the 80’s. Nothing about it looks 80’s  As for her updo, she needs more back combing. She seems to have a little cow lick and not giving it enough height or better part, it looks flat. I wish she’d cut a few inches off and go for a shoulder length do with curls. They’d be so bouncy  But I heard William likes her hair long and won’t let her cut it.

Her hair looks really lovely up like that.

I like it down better. It’s younger looking

KimKayden on

she’s probably wearing it back now because george is in the pulling at things phase. i remember having to wear my hair back so my son wont pull it

Andi on

She probably pulled her hair back because of the weather — you can see it’s rainy which is hard on loose curls.

She is really a lovely young woman but I do wish she would change her hair a bit even if it’s just to cut a few inches off so that it would be a bit more “fluffy” instead of flat. It’s always the same except when she wears it up. I bet she would be evn more attractive.

She is beautiful and classy…. love both outfits, if only i could afford them…

JP on

She is beautiful inside and out.
