Sarah Jessica Parker Is Going For the Full 'Carrie Bradshaw,' Stylewise, on Her Shoe Tour

It’s no secret we’ve been following Sarah Jessica Parker‘s shoe tour very closely. (One of us even had the pleasure of shoe-shopping with the actress!) And while the focus might be what’s happening on her feet, it’s hard not to notice the quirky outfits the actress has been sporting across the country. In fact, they all look like ensembles Carrie Bradshaw would boldly wear traipsing around the streets of Manhattan.
Maybe she’s channeling her shoe-obsessed Sex and the City alter ego (after all, she did name a footwear style after her) or maybe she’s just showing off some fun new pieces from her wardrobe. Regardless, she has our attention and it’s time to breakdown her looks.
For a fan event in Aventura, Fla., Saturday, SJP pulled a trademark Bradshaw fashion move: crazy layering. She topped a long-sleeve white billowy top with a hot-pink Dolce & Gabbana lace dress, fishnet stirrup tights (so CB!) and the “Carrie” shoes from her collection, plus Mikimoto pearls and a House of Lavande necklace.
And the layering continued from there. At The Grove in L.A., she wore a black bodysuit under a sheer white lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, accessorized with turquoise SJP heels. Next, she wore black opaques with hot-pink open-toe sandals (very advanced!) and a floral Dolce & Gabbana overcoat for the pop-up store opening in N.Y.C. And finally (and one of the most polarizing ensembles — hey, Carrie was always controversial!) a pair of Blank NYC overalls and a white collared shirt she wore for her appearance on Ellen last week. It’s hard to argue that any of these outfits could be screen-ready for Sex and the City 3.
These sartorial throwbacks to Carrie’s clothes reminded us that while her clothes were often insane fantasies, her hair was always on point. And that’s probably thanks to her longtime stylist Serge Normant. Normant has been busy traveling around the country with SJP on her shoe tour, making sure her dirty-blonde waves are camera-ready.
In a video below, the shoe designer recently shared the funny way she first met her mane man. “I had been following Serge’s work for a very, very long time. At long last, I was asked to host the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles in 1999, and Serge arrived at the fitting to look at every outfit because my goal was to change clothes 10 or 12 more that night,” she explains in the clip below, a part of her guest editor’s post with Nordstrom’s blog The Thread.
“So Serge had been having some very serious and chronic back pain at the time and had been giving some sort of healing tablet, so he took it. We were put in a trailer on the lot, and it was pretty tight quarters. And he started to blow dry my hair and he says can you excuse me for minute, turns around, opens the door and he basically starts a marathon of vomiting.”
Despite their shaky start, the duo has been working together even since. Watch them interact below, and tell us: What do you think of SJP’s recent outfit choices? Do they remind you of her Carrie? Do you love her signature wavy hair look? Share your thoughts below!
