Kate Moss Gets a Yellow Pixie for Surreal Alexander McQueen Campaign

Kate Moss just celebrated the big four-oh, but somehow we’re not surprised to see that the supermodel is busier than ever, booking one magazine cover and ad campaign after another. Her latest, for Alexander McQueen, has her almost unrecognizable, wearing a technicolor-hued, close-cropped do gelled back. Her makeup is metallic and angular, while her outfits are fierce, sporty and skin baring — giving us a post-apocalyptic warrior princess vibe.

PHOTOS: Seven shoes stars are loving — and you will too!

In the campaign video below, shot (like the ads) by photographer Steven Klein, the strings, church bells, heavy breathing and shot-through-the-crosshairs lenswork all give an encroaching sense of dread as the camera follows Moss through darkened streets and isolated rooms. But though the ads are futuristic and dark, the entire collection is inspired by the early 20th century and is actually quite exuberant and athletic — an unexpected juxtaposition that speaks to the brilliant minds behind the line. Though we’d love to know what the tiny Moss replica doll is supposed to signify. Any ideas?

What do you think of Moss’s campaign? Are you loving this side of her? Tell us in the comments!

Just about the worst ad I think I’ve ever seen, other than those for ambulance chasing attorneys who want to sue everyone for everything. Nothing appealing or interesting, that would make me want to buy a single thing. Not her best work, or her best look!

I think she looks amazing and fierce, but I’m unsure as to the perspective. Is she being stalked? Is she being attacked at the end? But I love Kate Moss, gladiator. The hair reminds me of Tilda Swinton, who is a style icon herself.

why even use kate moss?

The video is creepy and the clothes are atrocious, but Kate Moss looks fabulous. By the way, People, this haircut is not and never has been called a “pixie.”

As someone who lives, breathes, and works in fashion, I understand the approach they’re going for in this and while I think it’s great and the clothes, set, everything are amazing it’s just not… there! It’s not Alexander McQueen! The world misses you Lee and your clothes have never been the same!
