The One SAG Look Our Editors Loved Most

You know the drill: Once the gowns hit the red carpet, we start up our definitive best dressed list. This year at the SAG Awards, stars brought some serious glamour — and some serious risk — which didn’t make it easy for us! Below, see the dresses most beloved by some of our PEOPLE StyleWatch editors, and be sure to check out all the links to catch up on the must-see beauty looks, all the news from the night and much more.

Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: Let’s just get one thing out of the way. My real favorite outfit of the evening belonged to eight-year-old Alice Richmond, Tina Fey‘s daughter. But since I should probably pick someone tall enough to ride on roller coasters, I’ll choose Jennifer Garner‘s Max Mara gown, which to me was the epitome of classic old Hollywood elegance.

Sure, it was hardly groundbreaking, but I’m a sucker for a beautiful dress worn in a beautiful way. Her Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, David Webb danglers and elegant updo completed the look flawlessly, and you could tell she felt amazing in it. Guess it helps to have friends in high places!

Zoë Ruderman, Senior Style Editor: To be clear, my favorite style moment was when Jennifer Lawrence arrived on the red carpet wearing the Dior Haute Couture gown we picked out for her (hey-o, two years in a row!). But my favorite gown at the awards show Saturday night was Amy Adams’s Antonio Berardi. The stunning silhouette (see: the shoulder cutout, the asymmetrical V-neckline, the high slit) set it apart from all those sweetheart dresses and basic strapless gowns. And the metallic belt was a way better bling choice than a statement necklace, which only would have taken away from the unique décolletage of the blue design. So, Ames, you may not have won a SAG Award, but you won me over with your look. And really, isn’t that just as good?

Brittany Talarico, Associate Editor: I’m going to be very blunt: Michelle Dockery went for cleavage, and it totally got my vote. The Downton Abbey star ditched the more conservative cuts we’re used to seeing her in (like her strapless Oscar de la Renta dress at the Globes) for a black-and-white J. Mendel dress with a plunging neckline that was so low, it would totally make the Dowager Countess faint.

Not only did she show off some décolletage, but she also put her stems on display thanks to the dramatic front slit on the gown. And the cherry on top of her ultimate smokeshow cake? The bold red lip and sleek updo.

this list is invalid without Lupita Nyong’o in the teal Gucci… unique and stunning

I like that none of these women have faux tans. Jennifer Garner’s body looks amazing. Her arms are gorg.

Agree that Jenifer Garner’s svelte figure makes the outfit. The way she’s carrying herself, she looks stunning! I wish she’d dress up her casual look just a little more…

How could your “editors” overlook Lupita Nyong’o’s stunning gown? Love Jennifer Garner’s gown, the other two meh.
