Marc Jacobs's Final Louis Vuitton Campaign Features His Muses From Ages 23 to 70

Marc Jacobs closed out his 16-year tenure at Louis Vuitton with a bang (and a whole lot of feathers), but before leaving for good to work on his own line full-time, he had one more statement to make. The designer paid tribute to some of his most enduring muses in a series of ads for the line’s spring/summer 2014 campaign.

Jacobs has long selected some of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood to star in his Louis Vuitton campaigns, but this last round, shot by photographer Steven Meisel, feels very personal.

“This campaign is a celebration of women who have inspired his work and offers a vibrant homage to women and enduring style,” the press release says, naming all the muses from youngest (Edie Campbell, 23) to oldest (Catherine Deneuve, 70, above right). He also included Sofia Coppola (who inspired one of his most iconic handbags), Gisele Bündchen (above left), Fan Bingbing and Caroline de Maigret.

Each of Jacobs’s muses poses with a variation of the Nouveau Noé bag, an update to an iconic 1932 style designed to carry five bottles of champagne (which we didn’t know we desperately needed until right now). So what do you think: Did Jacobs go out on the right note? Are you excited to see all the portraits?

What I wouldn’t give for that bag in Gisele’s ad!

LOVE marc, and his amazing collections with louis vuitton. thanks for sharing people. great work marc/louis. personally, i wish giselle was featured less as a muse but everyone else is awesome and if it’s coming from marc, i won’t complain too much :)

I can’t believe how good Catherine Deneuve still looks! Sad to say but she does look sexier than Gisele at 70 :) Gisele looks fierce though….

I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the portraits. I’m a guy. I personally don’t feel comfortable walking around with a handbag, but like a lot of people, I get interested when people are so passionate about something.

Catherine Deneuve still looks sexier/better than Gisele, absolutely.

I agree Sacre, that bag is hot! Any Louis V. is a must – nothing like it. If angels carried purses they would be Louis V’s. God bless Marc J – Amen!

For most of my life I have thought that Catherine Deneuve was the most beautiful woman on the planet. If they had put considerably less makeup and a softer nail polish on her, I would have still thought so. Giselle’s picture here is flawless.

Now that’s a beautiful campaign!
