WATCH AND SHOP: The Best Lotion You've Never Heard Of

12/16/2013 at 01:40 PM ET

“I’m huge in Japan.” That’s what this lotion would say if it could talk. The Yu-Be formula has been a best-seller over there for years, but has always been hard to find (or really expensive) in the U.S. And as soon as we tried it, we were hooked. Watch the video below to see why this little rockstar is so popular overseas.

Yu-Be does everything a lotion should do (hydrates, obviously), but so much more. It’s non-greasy, can be used right on your face as a moisturizer or on your lips as a balm, diminishes the appearance of scars, has been found to be helpful for those suffering from eczema and dermatitis and has no scent so it won’t compete with your fragrance.

This editor has even tried shaving with the lotion, and it works really well, especially if you tend to get bumps or rawness from razors.

We’re hooking you up with an exclusive price, too. You can order both the jar and the tube for under $35 (with the discount code PEOPLE10 for first-time shoppers if you spend $50 or more; $35 for everyone else), plus free shipping. We keep the jar at home and throw the tube in our bag so it’s always handy.

We know it’s not exactly the cheapest lotion out there, but it’s worth the price — we promise.

Yu-be is not hard to find its on sephora,, and dermstore. personally I’ve tried a few of there products and it was okay, it all depends on your skin type, it’s by no means the best lotion out there

Just by looking at the texture, it looks like it would be too greasy/heavy for people with combination or oily skin. Anyone with combination or oily skin tried the lotion? What did you think?

Exclusive price? Try Amazon. Nothing “exclusive” about it.

You should be supporting products made in the USA especially during the holidays.

Ditto what jane said

I have a small tube of it and it’s great for taming those small, dry, flaky patches on my nose and forehead during the winter but I wouldn’t want to slather my whole face with it. Also mine has a vick’s vapor rub type smell at first and then it goes away.

This is by no means a plug, just a gal tip. I use an organic skin products by Anne Marie Gianni. She uses chia seeds in many of her products. Read about it months ago on the NY Times Collection app and as a 49 year old, couldn’t be happier.

I use Renew Lotion from Melaleuca ( US Manufacturer ) and nothing can beat that ….not even U B cream …and I support US made product ..

I got a free sample from Sephora, and I find the stuff to be greasy. I also agree with the commenter who said it smells at first. It definitely doesn’t work as a face lotion for me.

Thank you all for the comments because I was wondering if it was true that it was the best. I was about to buy it but now I at least will think about it.
