Mandy Moore Got a Haircut (Still No Shaved Head as Promised, Though!)

She’s been threatening a major cut for months now, but perhaps this week’s pixie madness (Jennifer! Kristin! Pamela! Meagan!) made her step away from the electric shaver. Instead, Mandy Moore did get a haircut — but it’s a simple, sweet (and somewhat less dramatic) one.

“Thanks for the chop, @marktownsend1! #shorterhair #funtimes #loveit,” she wrote along with an Instagram photo of the long bob cut for her by celebrity stylist Mark Townsend. Where her previous cut was shoulder-skimming and all one length, her new shorter look appears to be slightly asymmetrical and layered, with the tighter wave that often comes from shorter cuts.

“THANK YOU so much for playing salon with me. You are such an inspiration!!” Townsend wrote to the star on his own Instagram. And by that, we assume he was referring to her amazing Throwback Thursday photo of herself in a wedding dress with Walk to Remember costar Shane West, which we know inspired us — inspired us to pull that DVD out of our closet, that is.

So are you loving the star’s new shorter cut? Do you wish she had gone for the full shaved head as promised? And what is going on with all of the Hollywood haircuts lately? Weigh in below.

I really do think she’d look amazing with a shaved head!
