She’s no stranger to the Best Dressed list, but we’re surprised Jessica Alba nabbed the top spot this week for one reason: Duchess Catherine was also in the mix. And the race between Alba was Middleton was a tight one, with the actress beating out Prince William‘s wife by less than 600 votes.

PHOTOS: See what other stars wore on the red carpet this week!

Alba received over 26,000 votes for her pleated ivory Wes Gordon mini (complete with peekaboo stripes!), teamed with cap-toe pumps and a woven Tod’s clutch at the 50 Most Fashionable Women of 2013 event in Beverly Hills.

As for Kate, she left us slack-jawed once again in navy silk Jenny Packham gown, worn to host the 100 Women in Hedge Funds event in London. (One editor loves the dress so much, she wants it in white for her wedding one day!)

Other notables in the top 10 were Natalie Portman, who stepped out in a white organza Christian Dior with a black waistband at the Thor premiere in Berlin, and our Celeb Style Council member Ashley Madekwe, making us proud once again in a striped navy mini and red sandals at the 50 Most Fashionable Women Celebration in West Hollywood.

We want to know: Are you obsessing over Alba’s, or do you think the Duchess deserved the top spot?
