Duchess Catherine Has Another Major McQueen Moment at Prince George's Christening

Kate Middleton Alexander McQueen, Prince George ChristeningLandov

Last time we saw Duchess Catherine in all-white Alexander McQueen was at her royal nuptials to Prince William. This time, it’s for another royal occasion — the christening of her 3-month-old son Prince George.

While George was dressed in an elaborate replica of the royal christening robe, Middleton took a slightly more modern approach, wearing a custom ivory Alexander McQueen coat dress featuring ruffles down the front. Simple drop earrings and coordinating L.K. Bennett cream pumps completed the look.

And of course, she topped her famously gorgeous hair with a coordinating bespoke Jane Taylor “sinamay beret” featuring netting and a flower appliqué. (See a similar style by the milliner — for more than $1,200! — here.)

Prince William (not pictured) selected a navy suit and blue tie for the affair and was all smiles as he held his son at the 35-minute private ceremony led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace in London.

While we love Kate decked in her classic “Sunday best” (so to speak), we also love her casual style. What do you think of her coat dress? How cute is George in his christening robe? Share your thoughts below!

Gorgeous baby and lovely mother. BTW – that christening outfit is so beautiful…

The Duchess looks absolutely gorgeous, and the Duke looks very handsome, but their outfits do not look great side by side with his stark white compared to her cream.

Meg on

Kate looks beautiful as always and Prince George is adorable, he really resembles his dad! The christening gown is stunning!

Diedra on

He really looks like his dad – I can’t wait until he gets older to see whom he will favor – he is going to be as handsome as his dad!

Love it! Catherine & George look amazing. Love watching Wills go through the life steps. And now excited to watch George do the same

She is such a class act. Lovely young lady, and of course, George is adorable!

They all looked beautiful. Wow… George has really grown. Loved to see these photos.

I think she wore this dress when she came to Canada, but with a different hat. Always looks classy!

Love the photos. They all look beautiful. George is adorable!

Stunning and never disappointing…will also add that it’s nice to not see any negative comments on here.

She’s gorgeous…what’s up with the hats though? Not being mean, just wondering. Is it an Royal thing?

matilda on

To Just Sayin, here in the UK it is common and traditional for a woman to wear a hat (or a fascinator is becoming a popular alternative these days) to a formal occasion such as a wedding or a christening. I think the Duchess and her son look truly lovely here.

Both look just perfect. What a cute baby ♥️

I wish I could go back into the past and show Alexander McQueen how his fashion line’s future was going to turn out. Maybe he wouldn’t have committed suicide.

God, I want to be her! She’s breathtaking.

i think she looks lovely. her outfit looks very “royal” …i think it is christening appropriate. shes always classy and beautiful. love this family. =)

I love the whole outfit except for the matching shoes. I think black pumps with an ivory cap toe would have looked more polished.

They are a stunning looking family and love her outfit and of course that Christening gown is just beautiful. What makes them appear even more attractive is the happiness that radiates off them both. Her smile couldn’t be brighter and their confidence as a couple, parents, and royality just seems natural. I believe they enjoyed their day and the public appears to have enjoyed seeing the photos as well, based upon the lovely comments here.

She looks lovely – and the baby looks cute! Kate’s dress and hat are lovely – quite similar to some of the styles she has worn in the past. She obviously knows what suits her and what she feels comfortable in, I concur the dress is a bit similar to the one she wore to my country Canada a few years back!

Gah! She’s gorgeous no matter what she wears!

She is so classy!

Why did you call Kate “Middleton”?

ciparliamo on

She is always stunning….couldn’t imagine a better match for William….from what we can see anyway! But, why did the baby wear a royal “replica”….wouldn’t he wear the original outfit that all the heirs before him have worn?

Janet on

The Duchess of Cambridge looks absolutely stunning in that outfit holding her beautiful son with his oh so cute cubby cheeks.

I just love Princess Kate. She is a beautiful wife and a lovely mother. Wonderful to see this beautiful family and all of their support. William, you got the best!!

sookie on

I hate these ‘fascinators’ the royal family is fixated on wearing. The dress is pretty, though.

guest on

He’s already mastered the royal “clasped hands” look!

Beautiful and stunning….love it…

Absolutely beautiful! I swear this girl would look good in a paper bag.

She is the picture of perfection. I was wondering why Kanye had made such a hooplah recently. They just tried to steal the show again and want to make me puke.

Francine on

Please, are you being paid by KK?

Now this is class and this is the way is should be done. Cheers to William and Kate and of course baby George. Love, love, love. XOX

Although she looks classy, it blends too much with the young Prince’s outfit…the Prince with his father and the contrast colors makes it stand out better…

To Sookie- Fascinators and hats aren’t a royal thing in England, they’re an English thing in England. Women are expected to wear them to any formal event or church. As a matter of fact, the wife of the Prime Minister didn’t wear one to the royal wedding and she was called out for it cause she was the only female that didn’t.

Brooke on

She and the baby look beautiful. I’d much rather here about her than Kim K. Does anyone know why William doesn’t wear a wedding ring? I think( could be wrong) that even his dad wore one. Yes we all know he’s married but we know Kate is too and she wears her rings 24/7. They are modern royalty so he should wear a ring as well.

Margarita on

Elegant and classy as always!

Katie on

She is stunning!! George is adorable. Looks like his daddy a bit.

Dancin_gal720 on

Thank you for referring to her proper name and title instead of Kate Middleton. She is so Beautiful it’s a shame a lot of the female celebs in America don’t have a lot of class and style without showing everything and then some like Dutchess Catherine shes one of a kind

Nancy on

I read awhile back that Prince George would wear a replica of the orginial gown because the 1841 gown has become too fragile.

Pat on

Why was the baby in a replica gown?

Suzanne on

Does this woman EVER look bad??? What a classy, wonderful young woman and mother she is. William made a good choice!

Kate is the world’s most beautiful woman……she is always very elegant and classy…….

LOVE Kate, she brings such a breath of fresh air to the overstuffed and overdone celebrity world. Women ages 18-40, please make this woman your own personal role model.

Alfons on

It is a christening ‘gown’ – not a ‘robe’. It was to keep a tradition going, though this was the replica of the original one. As for the Dutchess, she is always stunngly atired as is the Prince.

kov on

THANK YOU for referring to her as DUCHESS CATHERINE.

I am so sick of the blatent disrespect of the media in continuing to call her ‘kate middleton”
