From Date Night to Brunch, Exactly What to Wear This Weekend

09/27/2013 at 03:20 PM ET

Don’t spend one more second in front of your closet than you have to this weekend. Instead, let us do the heavy lifting to ensure you send September out in style. And since in many climates, our opportunities for bare-legged weekends are rapidly coming to a close, we picked three looks that let you take full advantage of this ephemeral moment in time.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely leather skirt

Saturday night: No, you’re not having déja vu. This is the second week in a row we’re featuring Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s outfit in the “date night” slot of this section. And here’s why: She’s really got that whole “make your man drool on the table” thing down to a science. You’re not going to do much better than a leather skirt, stiletto booties and a casual J Brand sweater in one color palette if the look you’re going for is “drop dead sexy … and oh, I’m low-maintenance too.” And if that’s not the look you’re going for, well, you might be doing it wrong. Get Rosie’s vibe with a similar patterned leather skirt like this quilted one from Nordstrom’s Topshop collection ($80). Next add your softest black sweater and that pair of heeled booties in your closet (and if you don’t own a pair, you should probably get on that — stat).

Sunday brunch: Another effortless outfit, but rather than your man going speechless, this one will have your girlfriends squealing “It’s so cuuuuute!” Katie Holmes makes her powder-blue sundress work for the fall with a slightly oversized denim jacket and close-toed, bow-topped suede pumps, and simultaneously gives us wardrobe inspiration for every baby shower and wedding brunch we have until the end of time.

Want to emulate her look? Bust out your denim jacket and wear it over a flirty dress like this sleeveless, blue number from Mod Cloth ($75.99). Then finish the look with a similar pair of nude suede pumps.

Eva Mendes red dress

Monday morning: Most Monday mornings, we can only pray we look this put together (no comment on the results). But Eva Mendes makes this look so easy, we think we might actually be able to pull it off this time. Her elegant print shirtdress is perfectly fitted, with enough volume in the arms and skirt to give it a flirty, tomboyish vibe, and the belt cinches her hourglass figure to a tee. To give it a go, we’d start with this printed shirt dress from Loft (it’s 50% off!). Then add a head-turning pair of Bionda Castana heels (or this similar-looking, much more affordable pair by KamaliKulture) to glam up the day dress. Throw on a statement necklace, and all you have left to do is wait for the compliments to roll in.

Why would you not mention that the great dress Eva is wearing is from her new New York & Co line and it costs about the same or less as the dress you mention (which is out of stock by the way)? It’s not even a have it for less option!
