Eva Mendes Dishes On Her New York & Company Line (It's Out Today!)

As an actress, Eva Mendes knows pressure. But she’s never felt it quite like she has in her latest venture: Designing a line of clothing for New York & Company, which hits stores today.

“The challenging part of this process was knowing that I had women, especially my sisters, counting on me to make them look good,” Mendes tells the Huffington Post. “I take this very seriously … I can’t wait to get feedback from women about what works for them and what doesn’t. I hope I don’t disappoint them!”

Judging by the stylish, flirty pieces in her collection (get a peek above and in our October issue!), she certainly won’t, but she maintains a sense of humor about the whole thing. When asked if she has advice for aspiring designers, she demurs, saying “Let’s see if I survive my first season and then ask me!”

The actress also proves she’s always willing to laugh off past red-carpet missteps. After dismissing one outfit as “Princess Jasmine gone wrong,” she also confesses to wearing a Prabal Gurung dress that didn’t work for her. “An ill-fitting dress and my idea to have the frizzy hair resulted in a bad combo-platter,” she says.

And perhaps our favorite tidbit: Mendes reveals that her favorite tip for great hair is to condition it and put it up in a shower cap. “Although your hair will be grateful, the shower cap look isn’t the sexiest,” she notes, “so maybe do it on a night when he’s not around.” Little does boyfriend Ryan Gosling know what’s going on when he isn’t home!

Read lots more from the actress/designer at the Huffington Post, and be sure to check out all of her designs, live today at New York & Company. Then tell us: What’s at the top of your lust list from Mendes’s collection?

the dresses are pretty but the colours don’t work for me :(

Eva Mendes tends to dress like a dowdy secretary… I just don’t know about this.

I do anything and everything in front of my husband. I don’t care and he doesn’t either!

I can’t stand her.

And those two pieces are meh – I have seen better

I don’t like her for Ryan – She always seems like his school teacher or mother’s good friend. He can do so much better…he’s SO hot!!!!

Haven’t seen her whole line. But from the pics above, my 80 year old mother might wear that blouse.

The looks IMO are for 30-40 age range. I just turned 30 so I can see myself wearing these in a few years. They are affordable however. On a side note, Ryan Gosling is SO-O overrated. I prefer Chris Hemsworth. Everytime I see what I think is a bad movie, I remember seeing Ryan’s movie “Drive” and then I think, it’s not as bad as that.

I agree with the Dowdy Secretary post. Please add Homely as well.
