Sarah Jessica Parker: I'm Not As Into Fashion As You'd Expect

She may be a style icon, but former Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker swears she’s not as fashionable as she used to be now that she’s spending more time at home with her kids.

“I never dress up that much,” she tells UK newspaper the Daily Express. “These days, I’m lucky if I go out to a friend’s house. Most of my day is spent as a mother, which requires an entirely different wardrobe.”

“Although I appreciate beautiful clothes,” the star says, “I’m not into fashion as people expect me to be.”

It would be tough to be in Carrie Bradshaw drag while acting in her main role as mom to children James Wilkie, 9, and twins Tabitha and Loretta, 4, whom she jokes help her stay fit because they “act like arm weights.”

“I don’t think I’m in that great shape these days,” the former ballet dancer (and current yoga devotee) says. “I have to work out a lot harder. The body just doesn’t snap back in the way it used to when I was in my twenties.”

And when it comes to her beauty routine, SJP has a simple mantra. “I believe in buying as many antiaging creams as possible,” she says. “Use any cream that says ‘elimination’ in big bold letters on the jar. I swear by Garnier Ultra-Lift cream. It targets wrinkles and dryness as well as being really inexpensive.”

Tell us: Are you surprised to hear Parker has toned down her fashion-forward ways?

Not surprised at all. She’s always been down to earth, level headed and all around lovely. Love her dressed up or dressed down…she’s still the real deal.

Get that Garnier plug in there, why don’t ya! ;)

That aside, I adore SJP. She’s always photographed somewhere with at least one of her kids. She seems like a cool mom.

I’m sorry but in my opinion, Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe etc are style icons NOT SJP or any of the other women in Hollywood. I’m sorry but the way SOME of the women dress in Hollywood today isn’t in good taste.

They leave very little to the imagination. I would know bc I’m a fashion designer and I know how to make a good outfit and make a women look good in what she wears.

And no, I’m not looking for ANYONE to agree with me.

Love her !!

I’m not at all surprised – all her fashion sense was given to her by the Sex and the City fashion team – she has no fashion sense of her own. She is really not an actress either – all her roles seem the same to me no matter what character she plays. She only got so popular cause Sex and the City was on for so long – sorry but this is how I see it.
