Emma Watson: I Don't Want People To Think Fashion Is My Main Thing

To see Emma Watson on any red carpet, it’s hard to believe that she may not want to be perceived as a fashionista.

But in the August issue of Teen Vogue, the Bling Ring star confesses that she stepped back from her pet design projects for just that reason.

“I took a very conscious step back. I think people were getting confused,” she says. “They seemed to think that I was a fashionista or that fashion was my main thing, and I didn’t want that once I figured out I really did want to act.”

That doesn’t mean, of course, that she’s not willing to strike a stunning pose when it’s appropriate — as evidenced by her gorgeous spread for the magazine, accompanied by a punky pompadour hairdo with mini braids throughout (a far cry from her last super-ladylike editorial!)

She also confesses that her super-cool red carpet persona is all an act (“Every now and again, I feel a bit wobbly before hitting a red carpet. So it’s always nice to bring friends, especially because I love to see their reactions!”) and shares some of her favorite places to shop (Topshop, Aritzia, Chanel, Christopher Kane … are you taking notes?) in the revealing interview.

Then stop posing for fashion spreads in fashion magazines?

And, I’m sorry, but on the red carpet she resembles a little girl trying on mom’s clothes.

No she doesn’t, Boo. She is classy and gorgeous and can pull off any outfit she tries. Jealous much?

I love Emma. Beautiful girl and improving very much as an actress. She can both an actress and fashionista..

Boo, she is just smart and thoughtful about her life. She is very conscientious about who she is and the woman she wants to become. I admire her for that! Posing in fashion magazines is part of being an actress. It keeps her relevant. It’s part of her career.

She really has blossomed and whomever she hired as an agent is doing their job well! She is capable of being an Actor and a Fashionista at the same time, if she so chooses!

she needs to get her head outta her butt and get over herself. not once ever did i think of her as a “fashionista”… what a stuck up snob

Yuck on

Ew, I don’t like her mullet hair here. Normally she has beautiful hair.

Wow, so much hate from Boo & Kim. All I can say is, you two must be extremely unhappy in your own lives and have some bitter jealousy to work through.

Emma is incredibly intelligent – not just “smart” – with a fantastic head on her shoulders. I can see exactly where she’s coming from and have seen other young actresses make the very mistake she’s trying to avoid. Good for her!

Women have such a hard time with another woman being beautiful/successful/intelligent, it just drives them CRAZY. Silly girls, your insecurity is showing.

that’s right girl, keep them all guesting, you go.
