Red Carpet Trend Report: The Scoop on Funky Heels, Fun Prints and Fewer Accessories

In our weekly round-up of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we saw lots of great graphic prints, some seriously fun shoes and a surprising lack of bold earrings.

Up: Funky Heels. Maybe the warm weather has stars feeling bold, because we saw fewer nude pumps this week and lots more risky shoes. And we think the risk paid off in these fun styles seen on Elizabeth Banks (in Coach wedges, above), Jada Pinkett Smith and Heidi Klum. After all, if you can’t have fun with your footwear, where can you?

Up: Graphic prints. In a similar vein, while we’ll always love a great LBD, we appreciated that stars were showing their spots (and florals, and watercolors) in fun, bright print looks. Stacy Keibler did the trend on the biggest scale in her Michael Kors two-piece outfit, but we liked it on Hilary Swank and Maria Menounos. Rita Ora got in on the look too, though we’re withholding judgment on that one.

Down: Shoulder-grazing earrings. We love ourselves a pair of chandelier earrings — and we’re hardly saying this look is out. We are just saying we noticed a surprising lack of stars wearing major statement danglers. Nearly every star we saw sported either tiny studs or totally bare lobes, perhaps choosing to showcase a bold lip or fab necklace instead.

Door knocker earrings should have been gone a long time ago, another annoyance are heavy earrings that stretch the ear lobe…Plus too long of extensions are not attractive.

What’s so graphic about that floral print? Hire a legitimate fashion person for these pieces, People!

I’m confused by the “warning these are graphic” disclaimer on the main page… are they trying to be funny or something?… you really shouldn’t try and make a joke with a warning, at least put graphic in quotations or something to make it obvious its not actually graphic
