Kate Upton Ends Up On Victoria's Secret Cover - After Being Told They'd 'Never' Use Her

If you were surprised to see Kate Upton on the back cover of the latest Victoria’s Secret catalog, well, join the club. Upton herself was shocked, considering that just last year, a Victoria’s Secret booker said Upton would never be considered for the brand.

Though Upton has graced the cover of not one, but two Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers, and just scored her first Vogue cover this month, not everyone was sold on her popularity as a model.

Comments from Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show model booker Sophie Neophitou went viral last year after she told the New York Times, “We would never use Kate” because of her “too common” looks. “She’s like a footballer’s wife,” said Neophitou, “with the too-blonde hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

But the brand seems to be eating their words, as Upton appeared in Victoria’s Secret lingerie on the back cover of their most recent catalog. Victoria’s Secret didn’t respond when asked for comment, but an Upton source tells PEOPLE, “Kate is not thrilled that Victoria’s Secret is using these photos. She is not contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret and was not notified before the images, taken in 2011, were used.”

In February last year, Upton fired back at Neophitou’s comments, telling Access Hollywood, “I’m doing fine in my career. I don’t need to walk down their runway.” We wonder if Victoria’s Secret’s change of heart means Upton will have one too.

Sorry on

Would love to see a picture of Neophitou – what a jerk

Sophie is not better than the CEO of Abercrombie. Victoria’s secret is so hypocritical. “We don’t want Kate, but wait the rest of America loves her so lets recycle an old picture and put where everyone will see it.” No thanks I will buy elsewhere.

I was literally going to post the same exact thing as Sorry…

I think she should make sure she gets paid for the back cover and then I think SHE should tell V. Secret to piss off.

What the spokesperson said back in the day wasn’t kind, but modeling is an objective career. You’re “job” is to look a certain way. She was allowed to critique Kate Upton, and Kate Upton was allowed to say, “onto the next”. VS is absolutely cashing in on Kate Upton now, but the fact remains that VS only said “we have no plans of putting her down the runway, not print”. If I were Kate Upton, I would take the opportunity to not be upset, but take the opportunity to reply to the media with a snide comeback of my own.

Kate is doing quite well for herself. The booker for VS should take a good look at the models she has booked lately. If they represent something extraordinary she is blind. If I was Kate I would demand the money for my pictures and the use of them on the catalog. She also looks too healthy instead of a bony wraith like most of the VS models now. No reply on Kate’s part is better than stooping to the VS employees comments.

I would sue the brand for sure, they tried to damage her public image in the first scenario and then they have the audacity to use the pictures without her permission (not sure if there was a contract she signed when she took them, so maybe they were victoria’s secret to post) either way she better be getting paid, and I would expect royalties if I were her.

We all know that Amanda Bynes is prettier than Kate Upton. Amanda said so herself!

Sometimes things are better off unsaid. I LOVE how naturally beautiful Victoria Secret models look so I understand why they have those opinions of her hair and too much plastic surgery on her face but it was rude to flat out diss her. He should have just said she’s not what we’re looking for. That’s the right way to say it. But I still agree with him. She isn’t really the type model they usually use. I’m a big fan of their models because they aren’t overly done. They are just born gorgeous and don’t need to over process their hair and such. I’m still a customer.

The comment was hurtful, but true. They took on Toni Garrn, and she is on another planet
