What it is: A Japanese foot peel that removes dead skin

Who tried it: Andrea Lavinthal, PEOPLE.com Style Director

Why she did it: Because wearing socks with sandals isn’t a trend this season

How crazy is it on a scale from one to Kim Kardashian’s blood facial? We give it a 5.5 since it’s painless but kind of gross.

I was recently asked to remove my shoes before entering a friend’s apartment. This upset me greatly — not just because I’m scarred from the Sex and the City episode where someone takes Carrie’s brand new Manolos, but because I was self-conscious about the way my feet looked after several months of stuffing them into socks and boots.

I remembered a few of my beauty blogger friends Tweeting about a Japanese product called Baby Foot that sloughs away all the dead skin, so I tracked it down. (You can buy it at Beauty Sage for $25.)

Per the instructions, I slid the plastic booties on my feet (they contain a clear liquid that is a mix of exfoliating fruit acids) and secured them with the adhesive provided in the box, then hung out for an hour. Next, I rinsed off my feet and waited for something to happen.

After two days I was convinced the stuff didn’t work, then all of the sudden I noticed my heel was flaking a little. Within hours the skin on the bottom of my feet was shedding at an alarming rate and continued to do so for three more days. I had to wear socks around my apartment because it got a little gross. Lots of people have posted photos of this stage. I would refrain from Googling unless you have a strong stomach.

The Verdict: Once the peeling stopped, my feet felt way softer than they do after a pedicure. I’ll probably use Baby Foot again mid-summer when my heels revert back to their normal state.

Want soft feet? Wear socks and shoes!!! When you leave your feet to the hard pavement and open air most of the time, they will get dried out and callused. You think to moisten your lips when they get over exposed. Well your feet are no different. They dry out. Nourish those puppies. Protect them. Put some shoes on those feet when you are running out to the car or going grocery shopping. Keep those little toes protected until you want to show them off on that hot date. It will do wonders for your arches too.

You can buy this online for around $2.00. Ships from China so takes a while.

Is the skin on your feet very different from skin elsewhere? Maybe somebody sells just the cream? Need to know more about the active ingredients. (Clicking on your links goes nowhere) If it’s all made in China?, Definitely would need more information.

Day 9 and there is just a pea sized spot on the bottom of my heel where the skin is bubbled. Nothing else noticeable. Tomorrow, day 10 I expect my feet to completely peel off, nah, probably not. Kimberli Taylor… I wear shoes and socks all winter long and still have thick dry callouses on heels.

This stuff is awesome! I put socks on top of the booties and kept them on for an hour. My feet started peeling in 5 days. I also soaked my feet everyday to help it along I feel like I have new feet! Living in Florida I spend my days in flip flops and sandals. I like this product so much I would love to be a sales rep for the company.

I understand that the feet, and really all our skin, are a de-toxification machine ,that when use properly help us to be healthy. For all my body I use Baiden Mitten, Ancient Skin Rejuvenation Technique (Google, Facebock, Bing), use just water, but for haired men’s feet could be interesting baby feet

I want those stuff!
