Zoë Saldana: Super-Short Hair May Be In My Future

Zoë Saldana‘s close with her longtime hairdresser, Mara Roszak, but her confession in the latest issue of InStyle Hair may be enough to give Roszak nightmares.

“If I want to chop off my hair, I’ll take scissors and do one side before I even go to the hairdresser,” she says. “It’s all about trusting my instincts. Plus, that way I can’t change my mind!”

And what’s the likelihood that we’ll see the perpetually stylish star with Hollywood’s hottest hairstyle, the pixie, sometime soon? “At some point I might just want to chop it all off and go really short,” she says. “I’ll just wake up in the morning and, well … you know.”

Also on Saldana’s tress wish list: To return to her naturally curly texture. “It’s been eight months since my last straightening treatment, and I’m going to let it all grow out,” she tells the magazine (see her changing looks here). “It’s been a long time since I’ve woken up with my hair looking like an Afro. I can’t wait to have that again.”

Then tell us: Would you rather see Saldana with curly hair or a super-short cut?

I think some braincsell died from reading this article but I have no one but myself to blame. lol

Brenda Morales on

I think the short hair and pixie cut have been done and overdone lately.Curly hair would look nice on her.

Tina on

@Rain lol. I know. It’s a ridiculous excuse for an article.

susan on

Yuck on the Afro. It will reaffirm the stereotype that she is black.

NO!!! Keep it long! Short hair and pixie cut do not look good on some women. It’s same thing that I’ve seen on women at work and it’s doesn’t look great on them. Let’s hear for long hair!

@susan Excuse me Zoe Saldana is black – that is not a stereotype. I think that is the dumbest statement I have seen written in a longtime. SMH

afro sounds great. hope to see it long and curly and punked out. on you. sooooooooooo nice, a refreshing change in style.

This is a joke right? Does anyone with a single living brain cell give a rat’s rear end about this kind of mindless nonsense.

And we wonder why our country is so mucked up!

Baronessa Macchia Nera on

Sounds like a good idea as long as her head goes with it.

Rainbow on

R. Your wrong & Susan is correct. Not that it should matter but she is Dominican & Puerto Rican.

i hope she doesnt let the public eye stop her from doing whatever she wants with her hair …i think she would look great with a pixie cut

She should wear her hair as she wants. I can certainly understand her desire to wear her hair as it grows out of her scalp, without using harsh chemicals to straighten it.

To Rainbow and Susan, Zoe is a black woman, does not matter if she is Dominican and/or Puerto Rican, she is black; and every last person of those nations, they are not races of people, just nations, have ancestry that includes sub-Saharan Africans. She is a black woman and sick in the minds are those of Latin America who think that speaking Spanish and/or Portuguese negates the genetic tie to Africa.

Sue on

Who is she? And who cares?

nattyrose on

She is actually Dominican. The Dominican Republic shares a landmass with Haiti, so yes. She qualifies as Afro-Latina and she is proud of it. I think that her going back to her naturally curly texture will show and reaffirm to the world that all Black women do not look the same. Contrary to what media puts out.

Spanish cultures and many other cultures are mixed with black. So who ever thinks black people just come from Africa take your head out of your rear end. If Zoe wants to rock an Afro or go bald it’s her damn choice. I’m mixed with Puerto Rican Chinese and Filipino and YES I HAVE BLACK in my RACE AS WELL. I don’t have nappy hair so does that mean IM NOT PART BLACK? Seriously people EDUCATE YOUR DAMN SELVES. Prudence your comment was IGNORANT. DO YOUR DAMN RESEARCH

In response to all the hubbub about Zoe and her Racial background. She is Black, her ETHNIC background however is Puerto Rican and Dominican. There are only three races in the world, Caucasoid (or white people, regardless of location, language or ethnic affinity), Negroid (you guessed it, the same thing but with dark/black skinned people), and Mongoloid( Asian of most types, Native descent and etc.). How did I end up here? Who knows…carry on.

okay she is part black and part hispanic. who cares?? she is beautiful. isn’t selecting people and putting them on high pedestals a form of racism also? we worship beauty. so if we admire beauty above all else then we should just weed out ugly people and keep them in caves. the answer is to create a human from all races and select their best features. then we cannot be racist just jealous, insecure people putting down others because we want what they have and feel misery because we can’t get what they have

NOOOO.. she looks perfect as is.. :( would be such a waste.

I wish Zoe was a man!
