What, you expected her to wear polyester?

Rihanna may be High Street’s newest designer, but the costumes for her Diamonds world tour are straight-up haute couture.

Givenchy’s head designer Riccardo Tisci released sketches of the outfits the singer will wear in the “first act” of the mega-tour. “Rihanna represents what young and amazing means today,” Tisci says in a statement. “She is the face of her generation.”

That face will be partially obscured in her first ensemble, a floor length ruffled silk crepe cape with thigh-high leather boots. Under the cape is a three-piece gold-embroidered outfit inspired by Tisci’s fall/winter 2013 menswear collection for Givenchy, including a hand-embroidered parka, leather bra and satin shorts.

And as if you needed further proof that this was designed with Rihanna in mind, all of the hardware is engraved with her nickname, “RIRI,” and Tisci even provided her with custom sunglasses and earrings.

Tell us: What do you think of Rihanna’s tour costumes? Will you be seeing them live?

Heather on

Knowing her it will be taken off as soon as she takes the stage and Riri will be wearing only panties and pasties. Rihanna is one HOT MESS!

susi peach on

yes, its wonderfully sinister, dark, and satanic. perfect for the illuminati prinecess she says she is.

Anna on

HA! Shalisa strong women don’t allow men to beat them, then crawl back to them their hands and knees.

MB on

Anna- exactly! She is not a strong woman, nor is she a good example for the young girls that listen to her music and probably look up to her.

Andrea on

She is not a strong woman or icon of any kind, and certainly not a fashion icon. She is a fashion nightmare.

amber on

…sh’ell wear them and she’ll be awesome…

We know there’s a problem when our fashion designers are illustrating “ideal” models…and they have rickets! When did a vitamin D deficiency become de rigueur?

Done W. Rihanna on

“She is the face of her generation.” – Really!
Here are the things I see wrong w/ this statement:
1) An abused woman that goes back to the mistake of a man that beat her. That’s right, way to show our young women what “love” is.
2) She posts Inappropriate pics of herself online/Twitter. Why? Attention seeker much? Who cares what your new tattoo is or that she’s not alone in her bedroom. Keep your personal business to yourself, Please!
3) What has she done to be a role model? A few charity donations. Yay for you, Rihanna! Tax break! We all do that.
4) The only thing in my opinion that could make her a worse role model is if she got pregnant. We’ll see how soon that happens.

X-Factor on

She is NOT a role model. She is NOT strong. She is ONLY interested in taking our money. If not one person bought the music of this hypocritical woman, she’d be dirt poor like most of us. We buy her music, we read about her, watch her sleazy videos. If Oprah can’t get through to her then maybe quickly dwindling record sales will. They deserve each other and he’ll beat her again. He’s a gang-banger and a bastard.
