January Jones: 'My Hair Is Falling Out in Clumps'

January Jones might have been channeling David Bowie at the SAG Awards Sunday night with her pompadour, but considering she’s a risk taker when it comes to her hair, we can’t exactly say we’re shocked.

After all, this is the same woman who has tried almost as many mane colors as Katy Perry, including blonde, brunette, red and even pink highlights. But she admits hitting the hair dye bottle so often has caused some major damage to her tresses.

“I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” the star tells Grazia Daily. “I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.”

So we won’t be surprised if Jones sticks with platinum for now — or at least until her hair recovers. (And no, not because blondes have more fun.) She prefers her bright blonde hue for a more sentimental reason: “My son recognizes me in photos when I am blonde. He says ‘mama.'”

And it isn’t just baby Xander who has a tough time putting a name to a face when Jones isn’t rocking Betty Draper’s signature shade: Other people close to her had no idea who she was when she first went dark brown. “I was suddenly invisible,” she says. “Not just as a celebrity, but to my friends and family. I was like, ‘Come on you guys, it’s me!'” Tell us: Which hair color do you prefer on Jones?

This seems like a major “Well duh, of course it is” article. Except her son is over a year and only recognizes her as a blonde in photos when she’s been every color in person to him?

Funny, I’ve dyed & bleached my hair for 30 years and it doesn’t fall out.

Possibly the stress of not knowing who your baby’s daddy is. Or knowing who he is and knowing that he’d rather be with Olivia Wilde than you. Just a couple thoughts. Don’t pull your hair out worrying just stop sleeping your way through Hollywood.

“Platinum blonde” I do not think it means what you think it means.

maybe she should get checked out by a doctor. ive been dying my hair every shade imaginable for the past 25 years and never once has it fallen out. id be more concerned if i were her.

I have platinum blonde hair. It is silvery-white. That yellow blonde hair J.J. has now is NOT platinum. Not that it matters, just stating a correction for the article. I like January Jones and her chameleon-like changes of appearance. She is beautiful and can wear any color/style.

techincially it’s not shocking that her hair is falling out it’s over processed and besides the hormonal changes of being a mother to a young child can also affect that. who the father is has nothing to do with it. she is a golden blonde so when she eventually loses pigment her hair will turn white anyway ask Melissa Newman hers turned white in her early 40’s from being a mom of young sons as Ms Jones is and as her mothers did before her

Ugh, Kelly: how do you live with being so miserable every day? We pity you.

maybe she should switch to wearing a wig cause her hair at the SAG awards was horrible and so was her dress – it looked like she bobby-pinned a napkin to the front of her dress like a bib.
