According to Blake Lively, the most important kind of gift is “something that lasts,” she says. So what does that mean to her? This year, it’s fragrance.

“A fragrance is something my father would always give to my mother — we all within our family would buy each other different fragrances,” she says in a new promotional video for Gucci. “It tells a story — it’s each different time period in your life. It’s a nice identifier.”

However, the actress — and face of Gucci Première women’s fragrance — says it’s “a selfish gift,” as well. “It’s so comforting when you’re near someone you love and you recognize their smell — it’s just like, ‘Ahh, that’s you,'” she explains. “You get so much pleasure out of the gift as well.”

This holiday season, the newlywed plans to give her mom a bottle of Gucci Première (shhhh!) — though she’s not exactly excited to share her new signature scent.

“I’m going to have to fight with her,” the starlet jokes. “The problem is my mom and my sisters and I, we all like the same fragrance, so we’re all going to be wearing Gucci Première. If you were blindfolded in a room, you’re not going to be able to tell us apart.” Ryan Reynolds, you’ve been warned … Tell us: What gifts are you most excited to give this year?
