Red Carpet Trend Report: The Scoop on Turtlenecks, Illusion Necklines & Plunging Dresses

This week was all about looking sexy without sacrificing warmth. Don’t believe us? Just look up! Two covered-up dress trends made a big splash on the red carpet, while the style we’re seeing less of shows lots more skin:

Up: Turtleneck minis: A soccer-mom staple is getting a sexy spin: Khloé Kardashian Odom and Britney Spears both stepped out this week (at the same event!) in short black dresses with turtleneck tops. Since it’s a seasonally appropriate style of mini, expect to see more stars donning the silhouette in other hues — jewel tones and on-trend bright whites — paired with tights and cute booties.

Up: Illusion necklines: Not only is this sheer neckline a good way to cover up, but Jessica Alba (in a pale pink floral-print Valentino gown) and Keira Knightley (wearing an embroidered Valentino Haute Couture creation) prove it’s also a gorgeous way to show off the intricately detailed patterns of a dress.

Down: Extreme plunging necklines: Yes, Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr looks ridiculously hot in her Balmain mini, but the skin-baring front is rather summer-y, which is why stars are swapping it for less revealing necklines (like turtleneck and illusion!).

Khloe looks horrible in this picture, from the ill fitting dress to the hair style. Neither are very becomming on her. Miranda looks the best IMO.

Wow! I have to agree with Jackie. Khloe does not look great with her hair pulled back in this style. It makes her face look like one of those clear Halloween masks. On the other hand, I am not caring for Jessica’s hair style, nor gown. Yep, Miranda takes this one hands down.

Why is there a picture of Rosie O’Donnell in a mini-dress?

Jessica Alba looks elegant, but Miranda is just flat out hot.

I don’t think that anyone needs to be pencil thin; however, I think the number one rule of fashion is to find something that not only fits but flatters your specific body. Trying to squeeze yourself into something that is clearly too small doesn’t benefit you. I always though Oprah was pro at finding clothes that flattered her, accentuated her highlights and tone down her problem points. I think Khloe could use a lesson in this area.

Khloe looks like some kind of bobble head. Looks like she is trying to shrink her huld down a few inches by bending her legs and sucking her neck down. Miranda looks like she has an old lady boob down to her waist on each side of that v-neck. Jessica looks like someone is pulling her hair and she wants to scream. I don’t think any of these are very flattering.

Khloe looks totally fab!!! Omg she looks incredible. And all you idiots that call her a ‘HULK’ …you guys are just haters because shes too beautiful for you to handle. She is 5″10 in HEIGHT YOU IDIOTS! God, you guys are so Ignorant. #SucksToSuck

The pic doesn’t do Khloe justice. She looked better in person. Jessica looks pretty and feminine. Poor Miranda’s trying to poke out her chest to emphasize her less than man boobs.

Jessica looks fabulous……….very feminine, pretty, girly, alluring. It’s obvious why guys love her……….she looks beautiful WITHOUT showing EVERYTHING she has!
