All About Michelle Obama's Election Night Dress

Four more years with President Barack Obama in the White House means … four more years of amazing fashions from Michelle.

The First Lady exercised her right to look stylish after the polls closed Tuesday night, wearing a pintucked magenta silk chine Michael Kors dress (she’s a fan of the designer), House of Lavande Vintage brooch and black shrug for her husband’s acceptance speech in Chicago. And in true Michelle fashion, she chose a dress she’d worn — twice — before.

“She said that she was so busy with the campaign and their kids that she had no time to think about an outfit and decided at the last minute,” an Obama source tells PEOPLE.

Michelle first wore the dress to a White House holiday part in 2009, wearing it again for a military event in November of 2010, according to the Huffington Post.

“Mrs. Obama looked chic and elegant as always on election night,” Kors says in a statement. “My dress, with its strong color, clean lines and feminine silhouette, has all the elements that have become a part of the trademark style of our First Lady.”

Four years ago, the then-new FLOTUS made her first major style statement in a black-and-red Narciso Rodriguez sheath (daughters Sasha and Malia were color-coordinated with mom). It’s been fun to follow her fashions since then — everything from H&M frocks and Tracy Reese stunners to Naeem Khan gowns and Isaac Mizrahi creations. And we especially can’t wait to see what she wears to the inaugural ball in January — it’ll take a lot to top that Jason Wu dress. Tell us: What did you think of Michelle’s election day dress?

Of course she always looks and that’s because she has amazing taste in her preferred designers! Michael Kors is amazing! His clothes are clean, crisp and classy!

So happy that we will be seeing 4 more years of MK on MO!

This dress looks like it was made from my window treatments! Horrible…

I really liked this dress much better than the “black widow” as some people called it, from last year. Now, do you think it possible that we could afford to send her to a modeling class where she could learn to walk like a lady and keep her legs together so she doesn’t look so “clonky” in it?

To God be the Glory. God knew who was best for the job to be the President. So stop so much downing Mr. President and give God the Praise that you woke up this morning.

All you people upset that president obama was re-elected are nothing but a bunch of racists. I am thrilled this brilliant, cool headed man was re-elected and I think he and his family are beautiful. God bless them!!!

She looked great! Nice to see a first lady who will go into the closet and wear a nice dress more than once. They’re a great looking couple and family.

I commend the first lady for not worrying what the public might think or even care about whether or not she had already wore this dress. The president and the first lady are down to earth and live and show us that every day. I appreciate that.

What a Joke on

This woman does NOT motivate ME! I am not a free-loader living of the taxpayers hard-earned dollars taking multi-million dollar trips and encouraging my husband to destroy this country! What a fake, phony, disappointment of a person she is. No example for ANYONE in this country to follow.
