What set off our style radar this week? Sashes (they’re giving belts a run for their money) and a certain summery hue that’s making a play for your winter wardrobe. Both are perfect for the upcoming holiday party season — unlike a certain evening footwear trend. Keep reading for all the details:

Up: Gowns with sashes: Viola Davis, Christina Hendricks and Jennifer Lopez demonstrated a fresh way to accentuate their waists with elegant fabric sashes. It looks more sophisticated than a girlie bow and is a feminine alternative to a thin belt.

Down: Formal peep-toe booties: Open-toe booties are still in, but we’re not loving the way they look with a party dress (sorry, Kim). Opt for pointy-toe heels instead — they’re having a major moment right now and make your legs appear longer.

Up: Shades of yellow: It’s not the most obvious cold-weather color, but Amy Adams and company are proving yellow looks lovely year-round. In just one week Adams donned a chartreuse Gucci column gown, Cameron Diaz sported a marigold Gucci mini, Jada Pinkett Smith wore a draped lemon top and Kendall Jenner stepped out in a skin-tight pastel sheath.

Tell us: Which trend are you most excited to try? Vote below!

I’m not even really a Jennifer Lopez fan but was there ever a time she did NOT look good? Let’s be honest, she’s gorgeous.

Jennifer Lo ALWAYS looks good!

Botox and plastic surgery make Jennifer look the way she does. She’s so fake.

Uhmmm, Jen’s stylist and genetics are the reason she looks fab. I tip my hat to them … Kimye on the other hand is starting to look a little Katie Holmes pre-split. She looks dead in the eyes. Is it just me ?!?!

Forgive me, but is the correct ‘english’ not: “She shone” or is the has it gone out of mode?

Correction: appears, my last note di not fully appear: The wording: She shined is to be ‘she shone’, or am I wrong?
(Hope, this makes it in in full length)

Have you seen photo’s of J-lo when she started out in showbiz??? She was NOT quite the looker she is now…She had a nose job & other cosmetic surgeries and has lost about 25 lbs.
She was a pudgy & average looking woman. Check her out on old “fly girl’ video’s..

As a voter I have decided on who I am voting for this coming Tuesday.

I am voting for Mitt Romney. I am putting my country ahead of partisanship. The economy is still bad with 23 million people and the national dept is at 16 trillion dollars now. We will continue to dig ourselves into a deeper hole and suffer like an economy similiar to Greece, unless we vote for a different President on Tuesday.

To Merlin: OK, I looked up shone vs. shined, and found this:
“The verb shine has two main definitions: (1) to emit light, and (2) to cause to gleam by polishing. In its first sense, shine traditionally becomes shone in the past and perfect tenses and as a past participle. In its second sense, shine is traditionally inflected shined. So, for example, we might say, “The light shone in my window all night, and in the morning I shined my shoes.” Because shine is more often used in its light-emission sense, shone should properly be more common than shined. But writers increasingly use shined in place of shone.”
That aside, Jennifer looks stunning in that dress. Love the dress; would happily wear it if I could look like that in it. Kim, on the other hand, looks … well … bad.
