Red Carpet Trend Report: The Scoop on Cutouts, Bangs & Metallics

This week was packed with parties and premieres, so we kept our eyes on all of the red carpet happenings to fill you in on the trends that are on the rise — and the one on its way out. Our findings show that there are two dress styles gaining popularity, and one on-the-decline hairdo that we believe will get a chic upgrade in the near future.

Up: Sexy, cool cutouts: Showing slivers of skin was all the rage this summer, but in recent weeks celebs have given the trend a rest. That is, until now. With mega-stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson both donning designs featuring the revealing detail, we have a feeling round two of cutout mania is just about to get started.

Down: Heavy blunt bangs: We love fringe on Gabrielle Union, Jessica Biel and Lea Michele, but we think going forward stars will opt for a side-swept style to highlight their eyes — and better complement their sleek, gorgeous gowns.

Up: Shimmery metallic dresses: The holiday season doesn’t start for another month or so, but it looks like celebs are already test-driving shiny party looks. This week alone, Eva Longoria donned a copper number, Mandy Moore sported a shiny black frock and Brittany Snow wore a silver sheath. You can count on seeing similarly shimmery styles until just after New Year’s Eve.

All I can say, is to each their own.

I don’t think bangs ever go out of style, especially if someone has a high hair line or large forehead. For me, I wear them to frame my eyes.

I’m not going to try either “on the up trend” because I think both cut out and metallic dresses look ridiculous. Like most others, People’s “trends” do not dictate my look.

I wear bangs and I’ll always wear bangs. I don’t follow Hollywood trends, especially since I have little respect for any of them.

Dear People, this ‘Style News Now’ story is plain old dumb. Who says bangs are ‘out’ and these goofy cut-out dresses and metallics are ‘in’? Where did this info come from? I can just see the writers for ‘People’ sitting around a table trying to think of an article for the site and this unresearched story came out. I agree with previous posts… I think most women are past only following the latest trends every season… being yourself and wearing what you like and what flatters you most will always be IN! Taking pieces you love and puttng them together (old and new)… is real style.

No one should wear cutouts, you’re paying lots of money for a gown at least get a whole one. And I usually think bangs are for women who do not want Botox.

I just cut myself some heavy blunt bangs just to look different because everyone here is still rocking the long, stick straight hair with no bangs in sight. I’m so sick of it! Plus bangs hide my forehead which could use a little botox, ha ha. I don’t think Zoey will get rid of her bangs, that’s her look and she has gorgeous hair.

Frankly, the one hair trend I would like to see end is the long, straggley hair parted down the middle! The 1960″s died many years ago! Enough already!

Who cares? Woman need jobs for themselves and their men so they can feed their children! Eva is way out of touch with reality, woman are broke in this economy.

Trends are for flawless bodies…….and who has it….? but for regular normal ageing mortals… certain age,,,,you should be covering all the skin that doesn’t stay up…..
