How Did Lourdes Leon Spend Her Summer Vacation?

Most of us spent our summers as camp counselors, store cashiers and babysitters. But when you’re Madonna‘s daughter, Lourdes Leon, your summer job is decidedly more glam: working in the wardrobe department of your mom’s massive summer MDNA tour.

“All of my friends were getting summer jobs and I wanted one too,” Leon explains in her latest blog post for her clothing line, Material Girl. “Mine was a little unconventional but still a great experience and a lot of fun.”

Leon hints that she spent a lot of time folding underwear, and posts some cool backstage pics from mom’s tour (above). But her biggest task? “Being in the wardrobe department meant me and a few other girls dressed the dancers during the show when they had quick changes,” she explains. “Thirty seconds to totally dress a sweaty dancer can be insane and provoke mucho anxiety. Doing this night after night was pretty cray, but I loved every minute of it.”

The 16-year-old got to travel the world (she lists Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Turkey as her favorite stops) and loved working on the tour, “traveling around like a family, setting up for an amazing show and all having the same purpose,” she writes. “To be able to be a part of such an inspiring production was one of my best summers so far.” Click over to Leon’s blog to see and hear more about her experience. Tell us: Are you jealous of Lourdes’s glam summer job?

You couldn’t pay me enough to fold Madonna’s underwear. Hope she wore gloves.

Madonna’s kids seem grounded. Great job!

So she got to see her mom flash her nip. awesome.

I can just see Madonna proofreading this blog over and over before it goes live. Run Lola Run after you turn 18.

If she really wanted to teach her daughter solid life skills, she would be on time for her performances, and at the very least apologize when she’s not. Arrogance is a terrible quality, and certainly one you can pass on to your children or steer them towards a life of humility. Unfortunate parenting.

Boo-Hoo! She got a summer job. THat’s not aummer job hun. That’s you still iving off of your mommy. Why don’t you get a real teenage job and babysit or since you are so into fashion go down to the local shelter and give your clothes away to run-a-way and abused teens. Lourdes you have all that power and not one brain cell on how to use it for the better.

Kitchy on

Can’t stand her mom, but Lourdes is one seriously beautiful girl. And lots of kids her age get summer jobs working for their parents, I don’t see how that can possibly be a bad thing.

JJ on

Not a summer job? She works with her Mom on a clothing line, and is doing this? And you accuse her of not being smart? Who pissed in your cereal this morning?

Tigs on

Lourdes sure is a beautiful girl.

Madonna is one of the worst trash Hollywood has ever seen. Her daughter is already smoking and leading her own life the way she wants.

I am not jealous at all…sounds like a nasty job! I wouldn’t want to see my Mom gyrating around!

Good for her and wanting to work at her age. However, I have a problem with a 16 year old changing a dancer. Nothing about her being in the room and helping adult males and females strip down to change into various outfits is good for her as a child.

i’d never want to be around madonna everyday, that would be a punishment for me. Her daughter seems very sweet though, hope she’s nothing like her mother

Give this girl some credit, she has the world at her feet but chose to work all summer good for her. Maddona must be doing something right!!!!!!!!!!!

She is a smart girl. What I was trying to say is that she could be doing so much more with her summer instead of working for her mom back stage. I’m just not impress with the P.R she got for doing something that she pretty much did anyway with her and her mothers clothing line. What would have impressed me and showed true character was if she was helping other people for the better and expecting nothing from it. I am however glad that she is not one of those teens that you see plastered on the cover of People Mag for a DUI or some other non-sense.

God, some of you people are so ridiculous. Nudity in and of itself is in no way damaging to a 16 year old girl. And I’d be very surprised if she grew up with her mother and never before now saw one of her breasts. As for those people saying she should go get a real job or donate her clothes to the homeless, I’d say the same to you. I’m sure there’s something philanthropic you could be doing other than slamming celebrities on the internet.

sounds like a fun Summer for Lourdes!

It looks like Madonna is raising Lola to have the same type of work ethic she does, instead of turning her into some spoiled, privileged princess. And still some people are criticizing this 16 YEAR OLD KID for not having the right “type” of summer job. Most of the 16 year olds I know don’t do anything on their summer vacation except hang out with their friends. Lola could have easily just tagged along on the tour and spent her time shopping and sightseeing, but instead she joined the crew and did the dirty work (literally). Give the girl the credit she is due. And her mom as well, it seems like she’s raising a very grounded, well rounded kid, which can’t be easy when you’re the most famous woman in the world.

She looks so much like her mom.

Nice summer vacation

I think it’s a great summer job. I am a bit jealous :-)

Eva on

I like that she got a summer job even if it was for her mom. Every parent should make their kids have jobs to teach them the meaning of a buck and responsibility. Nice to see even Madonna’s kid works!

Lourdes looks soooo much like Shakira, specially before Shakira decided to dye her black hair into blond hair for the American crossover

lucy on

Good for lourdes it doesn’t matter if she works for mom or any other place this will teach her reponsibilities and good work ethics.

nikki on

I wonder how much mommy paid her for that summer “job”.

Cupcake Mama on

i hope she spent her summer vacation learning the intricacies of laser hair removal.

Laila on

Jealous? Actually no. Good for her though.

Katy Perry can sing on her solo album along with Willow Smith…

I think it’s great she worked for her mom in the summer. Not sure why she should work anywhere else. She’s only 16 and should still be with her mom. Is she supposed to live apart and work a summer job somewhere like New York? She’s a minor! Now it would be different if she was with her dad for the summer. As far as I know he’s very much a part of her life, too.

Nicole on

If one of my parents’ were famous, I would beg for the chance to work somewhere within their team.

And also, having grown up in the dance industry.. Being 16 and seeing others or helping others get changed into different costumes is no big deal..

These comments are for the most part sickening. Madonna is not a monster, nothing in this article paints her daughter as anything but a mostly normal teenager.

Are all your children perfect? Never get into trouble? Do their chores, give everything they don’t need to the poor?

No I didn’t think so. Get off your damned pedestals please.

It’s amazing how, in a week when things like bullying leading to teen suicide takes center stage and everyone’s talking about it, people still take to the internet to post pure vile hatred. You think it’s not related? It is, None of these garbage negative comments are doing anything positive for the world.

Keep picking on a 16 year old girl. Makes you all look like fantastic people.

Haha! Good one BH!

Who cares this depressed girl looks a mess.

I think Lourdes working for her mother is fine. She gets to see her and make money working.

Sara on

To Renee. I do volunteer and I do donate my clothes to my local shelter. I also work in the local church soup kitchen. I do donate my time and energy to as many charitable organizations as I can. I am allowed to speak my opinion on this internet site. Hint “Add a comment” You failed however to notice that I did give her props for being a productive teenager. You should read my post entirely. I did say that I thought the PR was done badly on her and that it could have been better That’s not her fault it is however the media wants to spin it. That is all.

momofbron on

Wow, Lourdes had a great vacation. Maybe her mother will consider adopting me? For a vacation like she had, I’ll be Lourdes big sister, and/or Madonna’s daughter.
