Kate Mara appears to pull off any look effortlessly, but the American Horror Story actress admits her fashion hasn’t always been foolproof.

“Any time I’ve used [my stylist Johnny Wujek], he’s come through, [but] sometimes I want to kill myself for choosing things,” Mara told PEOPLE Sunday on the red carpet at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards.

But those apparent style mistakes are not ones the star (in Badgley Mischka, left) will confess to the media.

“I won’t admit to any of those,” she said. “I’m sure I’ve had plenty, but I feel like it’s safer to not admit them to people because then they can print the picture and you go, ‘Why did I admit that?’ It’s so true.'”

With Wujek (who also styles Katy Perry) by her side, however, Mara feels she’s in good hands.

“He has been a friend of mine and stylist when I need to him to,” she shared. “It’s been like eight years now. So I really trust him.” Tell us: Do you have a friend who helps you choose clothes? Or do you style yourself?¬†

I have had same sort of dilemma whenever it is needed to attend parties. I think about it every time at the place that why I wore this but never figured it out until I got married. Now everything is dependent on my wife and I am free of this confusion. Perhaps the same situation with Mara.
