Red Carpet Trend Report: What's Sizzling and What's Fizzling

If you can’t wait to see what the most stylish TV stars wear to Sunday’s Emmy Awards, get a quick red carpet fashion fix by reading up on the trends we’re loving this week — plus the one we hope we don’t spot during the night’s big show.

Up: Revealing lace panels: Christina Aguilera, Lea Michele and Abbie Cornish are really bringing sexy back to the red carpet with their peek-a-boo lace numbers — and we don’t mind at all! Aguilera’s sheer sleeves and sides add just enough sex appeal to her otherwise simplistic Michael Kors gown.

Up: Baroque-inspired dresses: Regal baroque prints are going to be huge this fall, but it looks like one of our favorite fashionistas, Selena Gomez, wanted to road-test it before everyone else in the form of a black-and-gold Dolce & Gabbana sheath.

Down: Flowy white numbers: We’re all for breaking the no white after Labor Day rule, but Heidi Klum‘s strapless BCBG Max Azria number just feels too summery. If she would have topped it off with a boyfriend blazer and a bolder shoe, we probably would have thought otherwise.

Tell us: Which fall trend are you most excited for? Vote below!

Christina is a certifiable had been…

When doesn’t Christina show a lot of skin? She has about as much class as a Kardashian. Yuck. And I wouldn’t go for either of these trends.

Wow Lauren, Roses and Joanne bring out the claws why don’t you?!!! Geez, if the woman is comfortable in whatever she wears that her personal choice. You hateful catty women need to do some reflecting and wonder WHAT YOUR problem is. If you feel the need to criticize her, then there is more going on with yourselves than you realize.

That’s not a good look for Christina. The hairstyle is matronly.

Overweight? Lauen…really? She’s probably still thinner than you. Cameras add pounds.

The baroque “trendsetter” was not Selena Gomez. It was Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen at the Oscars last year. More recently, and before Selena Gomez, Kate Middleton has been photographed in a baroque Prabal Gurung. Selena Gomez is only a trendsetter if you consider her nod to “old Hollywood glamour” (yawn) a unique one.
