You'll Never Guess Who Wendy Williams Named Her Wig After

09/19/2012 at 06:30 PM ET

Katie Couric seriously wigged out on Wednesday — but don’t worry, she’s fine! The talk show hostess donned a gray wig for a hair-themed episode of her new talk show, Katie (see a photo below) and spoke to fellow talk show hostess Wendy Williams about her fabulous fake hair.

In the clip above, Williams reveals that she names her wigs — and one of them happens to be named in honor of Oprah Winfrey‘s best pal, Gayle King.

“When I’m inspired by somebody else [I name a wig after them],” Williams explains. And one short, honey-brown headpiece just happens to resemble the CBS This Morning anchor.

So when does Williams, who usually sports long, light brown locks, rock this particular style? “My Gayle King wig,” she admits, “is the one that I wear to the gym.” Tell us: Have you ever worn a wig? What for?

I’ve never worn a wig thank goodness, but I love the way Wendy Williams sports her wigs and I love how she names them after people who inspire her. I have to say Katie Couric looks wonderful with gray hair, it fits her very well and I think she should do it permanently. This episode gave me and my DISH coworkers plenty to talk about at work today. Luckily I set up a timer for my Hopper to record it. I love that when I played back the show I was able to start watching on my living room TV and then continue watching on any TV in my house right where I left off.
