What Bonds Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Together?

Some of fashion’s elite might say Kim Kardashian shouldn’t grace the cover of a magazine like Vogue, but apparently one magazine is more than willing to let her cover its Fall Fashion Issue: New York Magazine.

The cover (below) zooms in on Kardashian‘s flawless face and curly tendrils, while inside the glossy’s pages, she’s shown in various artistic above-the-waist shots — except for one (left), in which the star flaunts her famous backside in an open-back Bill Blass navy gown.

“I don’t really have goals as far as, I want to be on a cover or something like that,” she says when asked if she dreams of appearing on the cover of Vogue. “I think my goals are more just expanding my line … I don’t say, ‘Oh, I want to be on this magazine or I want to do this.'”

Though some designers and fashion personalities have announced their disdain for the curvaceous beauty (in May, designer Ralph Rucci said dressing the star would be “bastardizing yourself,” and rumors have swirled that Vogue‘s Anna Wintour isn’t a fan), dating Kanye West has certainly boosted Kardashian‘s style profile, even nabbing her front-row seats during Paris Couture week.

“If I have a design meeting, or he has one, we come back and talk about how our meetings went,” the star says of her relationship with West. “It’s cool, ’cause you can definitely get more in-depth with someone who actually knows what you’re talking about … So that’s been a fun similarity we have.”

And Kardashian — who’s known for her infamous 72-day marriage — is already thinking about her future with the rapper. “When this whole life is done, and it’s just the two of us sitting somewhere when we’re 80, you want to have things to talk about that you have in common,” she shares. “I think that’s something maybe I didn’t value as highly as a quality I cared about in someone.” Apparently, she does take fashion seriously.

Head over to NYMag.com to read Kardashian’s entire interview. Tell us: Do you think Kardashian is the appropriate cover star for a fashion magazine?

I think Kim has earned her spot in fashion. I think all the naysayers are jealous because she didn’t move up the ranks through haute couture. She basically became relatable to the masses. I think haute couture is only appealing to the few whereas Kim has tapped into a market of women who want fashion that looks good on their non 0 bodies and is affordable. It’s interesting that she was at many of the runway shows recently and Stephane Roland designed a dress for her. The days of Vogue and it’s snobbery are not relatable to the average woman any longer. My comment to Ralph Rucci is that I didn’t know who he was till he attatched his name to Kim’s. Whether any of the “fashion snobs” like it or not Kim is doing amazingly without their stamp of approval!

Kim and Kanye are sweet together, Kim’s cover looks very nice.

She looks beautiful in that shot. And i think its ridiculous for those stuck up fashion elitists to look down on her. Just because she isnt anorexic & has a butt/boobs or her style isnt high end couture enough for them doesnt give them the right to insult the girl. She’s a fashion icon to many & no one can change that. I personally love her style & i love how she mixes high/low pieces & still manages to make everything work.

Kim has certainly earne the right to be on any cover. Anna Wintour and her type can have a big seat, what they see as fashion or what they laude are size 0 stick thin women, Kim’s body is more the body of the average woman, she is curvacious and more relatable. I cannot relate to someone who has to stick their hand in their mouth to throw up just so they can be flat as a was board. Not saying that all models are that way but the ones that they tend to worship are. Kim has her own niche now and NO amount of hate, disdain, and all the other foolishness can take that away. Kim looks lovely.
