What's Up with Amy Adams's New Hairdo?

Well, here’s one hairstyle we won’t be including in our Instant Makeover tool! It’s Amy Adams‘s voluminous updo. But before you jump to judgment, know that it’s for a role — and it’s a wig.

The actress was photographed wearing the faux mane last Thursday during the opening night production of Into the Woods (part of the famous Shakespeare In The Park series in N.Y.C.). The musical combines six Grimms’ fairy tales into one story, and Adams plays the baker’s wife.

Though the New York Times was complimentary of her acting skills (“a lucidly spoken and sung performance”), they felt a tad differently about her hair, calling it a “furry tea cozy of a wig” and a “handicap” she had to overcome onstage. (We would add that it looks like Adams had to walk through a wind tunnel to get to the set.)

But we really can’t hate on her hair. In fact, we sort of love that Adams was open to going all out for a role, even if it meant hiding her gorgeous hair under a messy wig. Tell us: What do you think of Adams’s wig — wild or wonderful? Do you like when actors ‘hide’ their beauty for a role?

Courtney, it clearly says that in the piece if you had read it. Thanks for the information, though. Did you only read the title?

lmao, wow

love when actors/actresses transform themselves for a role!

I think the hairstyle is sort of ridiculous but very secondary and unimportant considering she’s starring in a wonderful role in a wonderful musical. Isn’t the talent a little tiny bit more important then a “meh” hairstyle?

Ummm…it’s for her role, why would anyone give a fcuk? This article is written like its something negative she should be embarrassed about, it’s a wig for a part. Dumb@sses.

All the characters in this tale wear funny getups. my kids were in this production in our local summer theatre. It was absolutely cool. Got to see it to get a better idea of the costumes.

If I hadn’t read the article I would have thought she was playing one of those polygamy cult women.
